I'm always glad to see the crane permit filed because that does seem to be the best indicator (outside of an official ground breaking) that a project is a go. I don't recall any project that failed after the crane permit was filed. The Fairmont seemed close at one point because the crane permit was filed when the project was still on shaky ground.

I'm in charge of crane news today. The crane for this one goes up the first weekend in November. I wonder if it will be taller than that huge pit they dug.

I like the look of the glass, but it's interesting that they chose the transparent glass rather than the reflective glass most office buildings use. Indeed's HQ in North Austin was built with that same transparent glass, which looks really good on an empty office building but once you move all your stuff in and install the blinds, looks pretty messy. Also the county offices have floor-to-ceiling transparent glass so you'll be able to see even more stuff through the windows.
