Arrow Which do you prefer: WTC-2 (NY) or TWO-IFC (HK)

Two outstanding modern/postmodern skyscrapers of equal height and mass created by 2 of the best architects in the world.

World Trade Center Tower 2 (200 Greenwich Street)
NYC, New York, United States
Foster and Partners, London

Status: under construction
Constructed: 2007-2011
Use: Office
Antenna/Spire: 1,350 ft (411 m)
Roof: 1,254 ft (382 m)
Floor count: 78
Floor area: 2,530,000 sq. ft
Architectural style: late-modernist/modern

(WTC 2) 200 Greenwich Street, a 78-floor office tower, is to form part of the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site in New York. One of the most important urban planning and architectural challenges of recent times, the concept is driven by memory, but equally by a sense of rebirth. Its sparkling glazed crystalline form and diamond shaped summit create a bold addition to the New York skyline.

Two International Finance Centre

Hong Kong, China
Cesar Pelli & Associates Architects, NYC
Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, New Haven, CT.

Status: Complete
Constructed: 2003
Use: Office
Antenna/Spire: 415.8 m (1364 ft.)
Roof: 406.9 m (1,335')
Top floor: 401.9 m (1,319')
Floor count: 90
Floor area: 185,805 m²
Architectural style: PostModern

(TWO IFC) World-renowned architect Cesar Pelli was selected to design Two IFC after winning an international design competition. In the tradition of true skyscrapers, the design of Two IFC is simple, strong and memorable. A great obelisk in the scale of the city and the harbor, it culminates in a sculptural crown that celebrates the height of the tower reaching to the sky. The top of Two IFC was designed as a welcoming gesture to the city, and when lit at night it is a shimmering beacon by Victoria Harbor.

They are both nice. I like the WTC-2 design..but of course it is not built yet. The Hong Kong one is not my favorite there but is still nice. I love those narrow glassy incredibly thin elegant sexy towers in HK..like Highcliff..*drool*

I didn't vote because I am not crazy about either of them . I actually like the other towers in the WTC plan better then these two. The HK building looks like a giant, swollen finger because of the bulge in the middle (is that an illusion?) and 2 wtc just looks broken.

whenever i look at 2WTC i see a cat's paw on the top. that kills it for me. 2-IFC looks like bullet with teeth. 2-IFC wins.

wtc for me. New york is hurting for tall modern towers. Once lower Mannhattan gets completed NYC will be a world class skyscraper town again (as it should be).

Anyone know which direction the top of wtc2 will facing in contrast to the rivers?

Both are attractive.

Overall however, I sway toward Two IFC, in HK. Still a favorite of mine.

I love them both, but I went with WTCT2. IFC2 is a great design by one of the best Po-Mo architects out there. WTCT2 just looks new and refreshing in a skyline that could really use such a tower.

Definitly 2IFC imho.

It has a much more dramatic modern look when WTC2 uses old fashioned crystal like design.

and I had the opportunity to BASE jump 2IFC so my heart says also 2IFC

2IFC without a doubt, based on those renderings of WTC2 at least.

I picked 2 IFC- He's gorgeous
Now that the new WTC doesn't look completely like one of Danny libeskind's shattered trainwrecks, it looks okay. If it were not on the WTC site, I would like it. But it's just not a replacement for the real Twin Towers. I dunno- if rebuilt towers were sharing space with a couple of those skyscrapers, I would feel much better.
