Map of Austin skyline views

I thought it would be a neat idea to create a map showing all of the places we know of that have a good skyline view. This would be useful in photographing the skyline, but also is just a neat map showing where you can see downtown. I know there's more spots than this, but it's a start.

The map is on Google Maps. Each placemark can be clicked on to show where the view is and what kind of view it is, a full skyline view, or just a couple of buildings. If it's a view at street level, you can even switch over to Google Street view to see that spot from their roaming cameras.

I'm posting the link here, that should allow you guys to contribute to it with any spots that you know of.

I tried like heck to put in the Red Bud Trail hill, but Google does not like that part of town - at all. Can't get it to accept a point there.

Cool idea Kevin! I'll have to add some of the North Austin views... starting with the Mopac corridor between Braker and Far West Blvd. Some very impressive views from the Mopac/183 interchange flyovers. Also, along I-35 north, at 290E and even SB 35 between Braker and Rundberg.

EDIT: There's also a view of downtown from Shoreline Drive at Burnet road in far north Austin (Martin Hill). Can't make it out on street-view, so you'll just have to take my word for it

Cool, so you can actually view the placemarks with street view. After a few clicks though it goes back to the normal placemark view. How do you switch it back and forth and keep it on street view?

Added. I've been wanting to find some good spots to take pics from the east side of I-35.

Click on the pin and when the bubble pops up with information on it, there's a drop-down menu titled "More". Street view is under that menu. Many of the points are not on a street, or on a street without street view, so this doesn't work with all of the points.

Is there a way to add our own photos, maybe in the bubble that pops up when you click on a placemark? They would look much better than the streetview views.

I think so. I'm not sure how to do it, but I've noticed while viewing streets in street view, it would also pop up a "viewers photos" window that would allow you to view them by clicking on it. I'll have to look into it more, but there has to be a way to add it. I hope it's not something you have to submit to Google and hope they add it, but rather something you can just add yourself.

If you check out Redbud Trail right as it crosses the river, there are some viewers photos for that view. You have to be viewing it in street view to see them. I'm wanting to ride over there myself and check out the little park on the isle.
