First photo thread of Galveston for the year. All photos taken between March 4th and Today with an iPhone 5, mostly on the east end of the city.

Cool. Glad to see some photos of Galveston. How many floors is that new hospital going to be? You mentioned it's a replacement, are they planning to tear down the old one or repair it?

13 floors in total. The old one was demolished early last yr and the new Hospital is expected to be complete by 2016.

This slipped through! I've always liked Galveston and wanted to pair a trip there with some other stuff in Texas this spring but didn't get around to scheduling it, perhaps in the fall.

I thought the town would look a little rougher from the bad weather. Really looks like a nice place.

Now this is what comes to mind whenever I think about the old south (Old Victorian mansions, cozy front porches, iron balconies.). Much of old Galveston seems well preserved. Beautiful, right up there with New Orleans, Charleston, savannah and Mobile. The great old cities of the south.

Thanks everyone, Galveston is doing very well. This year has been the best so far. A record 437k people visited during Memorial Day Weekend and traffic during that time was crazy.
