don't remember if this was mentioned, but i found these old pics taken from the top of the vdara. interesting tidbits underneath some of them. they were taken from one of the construction workers... what an experience that would be!

Nice shots. It gives us an idea of what the views will look like from inside the building.

Many new renderings

I have tons of new renderings of CityCenter. I will upload them soon. Until then, enjoy this shot of The St. Regis Residences at The Venetian Palazzo.

Fontainebleau is really getting impressive. Is it already the highest building in Las Vegas (excluding the Stratosphere Tower of course)?

they were starting work on the 61st floor last week so with 3 floors to go and the crown i would assume its taller than the 646ft palazzo of of now

Thanks for the renderings Aaron.

I'm really digging the minimalist vibe of Veer - really futuristic and sleek.

Also, the color pallete at Vdara is nuts. Everywhere from the lobby to the lounge to the pool is very well done.

the st regis condos looks great - it looks like the tower got wider and taller! - maybe taller than the palazzo!

btw - the second crane at the venetian condo site is back up - maybe they had to replace it - now there should be faster production there.

no - city center is not - nor will be the tallest in vegas - i beleive wynn, encore, trump, fountainbleau (which will be the tallest), and palazzo - and now maybe the st regis condos - are taller

Well according to the SSP diagrams, which I think are mostly correct, the tallest will be:

The Font 735 f
Palazzo 642 f
St. Regis 632 f
Encore 631 f
Trump 623 f
Wynn 614 f
Cosmo (both towers) 603 f
Aria 600 f
PH Tower 600 f
Vdara 554 f
Mandarin Oriental 539 f
NYNY 529 f
Palms Place 518 f
Bellagio 508 f
Sky 500 f
Panorama 3 494 f

I think that Vdara height is wrong though. It looks just as tall as Aria.

The Stratosphere is 1149 f and the Eiffel Tower is 540 f.
The Hoover Dam is 726 f.

Question

Aaron-

Thanks for sharing the photos of CityCenter! As always I love your contibutions!

It will be very interesting to compare the conceptuals to the final execution of these spaces in regards to construction, interior finishes, landscaping and especially the artwork. I see the disclosure about rendering being proposals- but its always fun to speculate how it will end up.

In that regards... I am kind of hoping that the art wall in the first posted photo (I believe of the lobby in one of the Veer Towers) will change from what is proposed. Does anyone else think that it looks like "sickness" splattered all over the wall? Maybe it would work if the color was different than the watery brown...

ScottG-

I am glad someone else is as confused about FBlue. The shape, angles and positioning of the tower is just... odd. Barely asymmetric in passing, but it does stand out as annoying to the trained eye. And the tower's position on the site map makes it feel a bit lop-sided or weighted as opposed to balanced. Oh well- they obviously did it for a reason and I'm sure it will look great when it's completed.

Nope, that's probably how it will end up looking. The artist is Richard Long.

Quote:
Richard Long -- Veer Towers will feature two large-scale commissioned
works by Richard Long. Entitled Circle of Life and Earth, Long's two
mud wall drawings will measure 80 feet high x 50 feet wide each and be
displayed on Veer's west and east tower walls, respectively. An English
sculptor, photographer and painter, Long is one of the best-known
British land and conceptual artists. His art showcases his appreciation
for nature and the majority of his works are inspired by natural
landscapes he has encountered while hiking. During his walks, Long
often creates sculptures using natural materials in the environment
such as leaves, twigs and stones, and then photographs the end result
to forever capture his work. Long is the only artist to be short-listed
for the Turner Prize four times. He was nominated in 1984, 1987 and
1988, and won the award in 1989 for White Water Line.

Here's one that's in the Hearst Tower in New York.

Perhaps VegasTodayAndTomorrow should just get some crazy 90 foot Strip Map mural thrown up into one of the Veer lobbies for all his hard work for Vegas. We could make it all retro and wierd! LOL

from http://www.lasvegasstripdaily.com/le...etian-palazzo/

(aarons site is real interesting)

i really am liking this st regis tower - apparently it too wants to be leed certicfied

-which btw, really means nothing - i know thats a bold statement - ill be getting my BA in architecture in a couple months - and i have heard from several architects who loath LEED certification (there are SO many ways to get around the 'rules' to gains 'points') -

im suprised to read that the PALAZZO is the world largest LEED certisfied building - - dont get me wrong - LEED certisfication is comendable - but its not really 'green' architecture
