Quick response, then back on topic...

The City uses FTP to post these files, and Edge doesn't apparently support FTP. You'll need to try a legacy browser. Ultimately, let's hope the City starts to migrate away from FTP.

Jude Galligan of AustinTowers.net had a great post yesterday with rumor updates on several projects. Says that some sources tell him Third + Shoal will break ground in September:

Wait, why is this one expected to take three years? "September 2016 - September 2019" seems like at least 8 months too long for the delivery of a 397-ft office tower. I think this will ultimately get built but I'm skeptical about when exactly. First demo was supposed to be around December, then February, then it was March for sure... It had that last event with Obama in town. Now it's been quiet all summer. I did notice there's a banner on the building with the name of the demo company. Still, we're a week or so out from September and there's no chain link fence or anything. What's up?

Photo evidence

Also snapped this shot of 500 West 2nd and the Northshore. It's amazing the dense corridor these two have created out of what was just recently a desolate field.

Mixed feelings, this was an Austin namesake, a needed venue, but terrible accoustics and customer service at times, being replaced with a building rated meh, but will add some density infill with sorta decent height. Still, I'm excited to see the construction boom continuing.

They haven't given a timeline or a location yet, but they are supposed to bring AMH back at some point.

They should put it at the site of the former One Two East.

^ Haha, the traffic may not go over well with the neighbors on that one, but at least they couldn't complain about the height!

Interesting. They've already started tearing AMH down. I wonder if they scheduled this as such because they anticipate having it all torn down by the 22nd? That would be fast, but not unprecedented.

Fortunately AMH is largely a big, empty room...teardown should be (relatively speaking) easy and quick.

I'll confess, acoustics aside, I'm a little sad. I saw some decent shows on that plot of land over the years...even played there a couple of times years ago.

The modern glass portion that was the last section razed was actually pretty interesting architecture IMO. The venue could have just been a warehouse all around, but that portion was really cool. I think it would have been an intriguing idea to incorporate that portion into the new tower.

As far as shows, I saw Lorde's first US show there and it was incredible. I thought the sound was just fine, although it was electronic so I'm sure that made a difference vs. real instruments. Anyway, the confetti drop at the end of the show is one of my favorite memories in Austin. I share some of your nostalgia.

I think that last bit standing was part of the renovation from when new owners took over, yeah it kind of made the place look cooler. How fun would it be sitting at the controls and tearing things down?
