The John Labatt House in the Cobblestone District will create 100 food and beverage jobs when it opens in fall 2018, Labatt USA said Wednesday.
Labatt USA is partnering with Pegula Sports and Entertainment, which manages the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, to redevelop a five-story building at 79 Perry St. The project will include a ground-floor restaurant and a pilot brewery. The John Labatt House is in the design phase, and construction is set to begin in early 2018.
Labatt USA will also move its headquarters to 79 Perry St. from Fountain Plaza. The company, which imports Labatt Blue and Blue Light from Canada, is marking the 10th anniversary of bringing its headquarters to Buffalo from Connecticut. Labatt USA has 58 employees.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary, Mayor Byron Brown declared Wednesday as "Labatt Blue Day" and July 14 to 16 as "Labatt Blue Weekend." The company this weekend will give away discounted Uber rides to random winners, and is working with the Chippewa Alliance to install flower pots and banners in that neighborhood.
