I had occasion to go to Milwaukee for the first time last April. I have to say, I came away solidly impressed with the waterfront, river, built density, and general feeling. I stayed downtown, but made it out to a few areas, particularly along the north lakefront. This trip also included Chicago and a side trip to Michigan, and truthfully I only went to Milwaukee for the Calatrava and some baseball, but I left feeling it was a city I’d like to visit again.

well some best skyline views are indeed from highway angles , for example Newark and Nashville and Columbus OH, and I gotta say Milkwaukee's is as well. the waterfront view is not good as always.

is there any possible to see Jacksonville FL's from any highway angles?

Thanks for all the closeups of the art museum's brise-soleil mechanisms!

Don't get me wrong - I think the Calatrava sculpture/building is a fantastic statement, but I was not terribly impressed with it as a gallery space.

It reminded me of Wright's Guggenheim in New York in that way. Both building compete with the art displayed in them. There are also somewhat awkward

edges to the hallways in the Calatrava which lead to the older galleries.

That said, the galleries of the building's additions from the 1950s and 1960s are generally very good display areas and Milwaukee does have a very good

diversity in the collections - especially the more recent collections. I really enjoyed visiting the whole museum.
