That would be perfect.
I agree. Not too concerned about the logic of keeping two divisions, think it is more important to keep the East vs. West Grey Cup. Currently, really, really getting sick of playing the same team up to 6 times (1 pre-season, 4 regular season, and 1 playoff game) in one year. I mean how many times do you have to beat the same team in a year. Even moving to nine teams makes the situation more palatable.

Redblacks take Kevin Glenn. Surprised they didn't go for Tate, must have been turned off by all his injury troubles.

I'm not really all that surprised. I don't believe in "injury prone" but Glenn has played the bulk of Calgary's games the past few seasons and been for the most part consistent and productive. You really only ever got to saw glimpses of Tate.

Chevon Walker was a great pick. I expect him to help Ottawa out a lot.

Interesting that they took Thomas DeMarco, I guess they didn't wanna toy with free agency. I never really liked him all that much, but I'm worried about our backup situation now.

Good picks by Ottawa in round 1. Having Glenn act as an experienced starter for the next season or two while DeMarco develops is a good plan IMO. Walker gives them a credible ground game off the hop, assuming they have an OL give him some blocks.

Interesting that the first two defensive players they picked are on the line... no appealing LBs or DBs?

I'm a bit disappointed that we lost such a reliable guy in Glenn, but Mitchell should start shouldering more of the load now. Will be good to have Winnipeg back in the West where they belong too.

Good luck to Hage, Delahunt, and Walker.

It sucks to lose Hage, but time and injury have been working against him. Ottawa gets an experienced vet in him though (unless he retires). Delahunt had so much potential before his mid-season knee injury, but if he can return to form the RedBlacks will have a solid player. Walker's speed is an asset... if they can teach him to block and to run better in heavy traffic he will serve them well as a primary RB, though he'll undoubtedly be facing competition in camp.

Wow, you guys protected Mitchell over Tate & Glenn? Didn't know that. Yeah he did great when he was covering for them this year, but that's a very small sample size.

I dunno, there wasn't really much else out there for them after taking one of the Calgary QB's. Drew Willy or Zach Collaros might have seemed liked better options statically but neither of them have really proved anything considering the short times they've play.

Zach Collaros played a very big chunk of the season...but I suppose he was a free agent. I just remember watching the season and thinking that there was no way that DeMarco would leave cause there were so many better options.

I hope Ottawa has a good first year, like an 11-7 record.

Whelps its official.
One of the CFL's greats, Anthony Calvillo is retiring. The news conference is tomorrow at 11. Shame he didn't come back for one last hurrah, though I suppose injuries were starting to take their toll.

Better to leave on your own terms, than leave because you simply can't physically play anymore. AC's had an awesome career.

It really feels like the end of an era with Calvillo retiring... he began his CFL career when I was still in high school! That kind of longevity as a pro QB is amazing.

The obvious respect that people in football have for Calvillo also speaks volumes about his character... it's nice to see a good guy do so well.

My impression of him completely changed after the TSN documentary. For him to achieve what he has considering all he had to go through prior to getting a chance in the CFL is remarkable.

Calvillo was one class act, hopefully he stays in Montreal and is involved in the team or league in some way.

Surprising move by the Ticat's. Going with Collaros, an unproven QB who's started all but 7 games over Burris, an all-time great who produced 10,292 yards, 67 touchdowns vs 37 interceptions in two season with Ham.

Excited to be a virgin CFL season ticket holder.

Hank was a great QB for us the last two seasons - aside from the W-L column (and Grey Cup record), he had the best two seasons put together by any Tiger-Cat QB ever. I enjoyed watching him play here.

This is a risky but ballsy move. We can't anoint Collaros the #1 just yet, as he'll face plenty of competition in camp. But Burris wasn't going to be in the plans beyond this season anyway, so it's a decision that was coming.

Good luck Burris on finishing a HOF career somewhere else.

In Austin we trust.
