...and a few from West Palm Beach

Yes! I'm going to be in Miami myself in exactly two weeks. To me, in very general terms, the expanse of the skyline and the rigid grid, physically look very Chicago like in many of the photos of this thread.

I must now excuse myself so I can play some GTA:Vice City.

Great Job.

I just love Miami. It's so Latin, and it's so sexy and seductive. When heading to points further south, Miami is great because while on a stopover or something, you feel as if you're already there due to all of the Spanish being spoken! Also, I feel the more traditionally urban parts of Miami, too, are great in their own regard; highly underrated as well from an urban standpoint.

This is the capital of Latin America. For real, yo.

it's amazing the disparity of wealth in the US. miami to me is know for glitter and skyrise ultraexpensive condos (among other things) but it was interesting seeing areas in your photos between those who got it and those who dont. it's truly amazing and something you dont see in canada.

And flat. You could roller-blade and bike for days. Great set!

Might be much less so in Edmonton but Vancouver or Toronto and maybe even Montreal??? It's there. Miami also seems like a playground for wealth that's visiting not just permanent and (quite visible in some places) resident wealth.

^I'm not saying it's all 1 000 000 homes across Canada for everybody, and every city has it's places that aren't the hottest, even Edmonton, Vancouver, or Toronto, but it isn't to the same extent it seems. Run downdedness or unattractive looking (to most, not all) seems to be more frequent in the US (this doesn't mean ghetto or slum, though). lower income with considerable less wealth seems to just be more common. but to juxtapose that, there is insurmountable amounts of wealth in other areas.

^Well we do go broke trying to pay the interest on college loans (if we're lucky to get funding), and pay dental bills... And we have Wall Street... I think we have more trouble overall from drugs and violence too.

TOMMY VERCETTI IS AN INNOCENT MAN!

Er, anyway. For a bit there I was like "hey, these look really good, now let's see some street level shots..." And then they appeared. Good job.

Great thread. Nice to finally see some Miami streetscapes to go along with that skyline that has just exploded!

A nice tour into the neighborhoods. I can never get over how low-rise the city, and how simple the architecture, becomes just off the bay. It may sound weird, but it's eerily similar in look and layout to the Las Vegas Strip and the neighborhoods directly off of it, overhead powerlines and simple storefronts and all. I always forget that most of Miami is a relatively young city.

Exactly the comparison that came to my mind, too

Azucar!

It'll be interesting to see if and how this neighborhood changes when the new Marlins stadium is complete. You can see it in the background of a couple of the pictures.

Thank you for sharing the real Miami. Seems like we usually just get the skyline shots from across a little bit of water. Great job!

I'm not sure about the "Capital of Latin America" title, but its definitely the Gateway to Latin America!
