How did the Canucks goal on that play count? Kessler should have gotten a diving penalty as well as the goalie interference. The Canucks diving is a shameful display of hockey, absolutely shameful.

Just to clarify, I only said I didn't think Henrik's trip was a dive, and watching all three games I felt that the officiating was poor for all six teams involved. There were a lot of soft calls, missed calls, and other blunders. Other than that, the majority of Canuck fans, myself included, are not impressed with Kesler's antics last night, and probably the only bright spot of the game was Luongo's stellar goaltending. The game could have easily been 5-1 after 2.

That's another one but since that was later in the game the one I was referring to was the gunshot/goalie interference that led to their first goal.

Tell me this isn't the first time you've notice Keslers antics... (or the usual antics of the sedin twins.)

I'd say that last night was one of Kesler's worst games, as the only time you noticed him was when he was diving. During the regular season it seemed like he didn't do it as much, although I didn't watch every game during the regular season.

Oh well, diving happens with every team. I guess the Canucks get more attention because they're such a soft team that's loathed throughout the NHL with some of the dirtiest players in the league. I think I covered the main ones.

I only saw the second half of the game but the Canucks didnt deserve to win with all the penalties they took. Lucky to lose by only one goal.
And to all the Alberta haters the only thing you got to look forward to is your vacation to British Columbia, home of the Canucks.

I'll gladly enjoy BC as I always do whether the Canucks win or lose. If they lose....it's just a bonus.

There may be canuck haters in Alberta, but the hate goes right across the NHL...

Kesler's dive would've got pretty good marks in the olympics

Seeing as we no longer have a "regular" NHL thread...

The first coaching change sure didn't take long. Sutter got canned by the Flames today. Good riddance if you ask me.

How on Earth did Weber escape without a suspension on that hit? That's one of the dirtiest plays I've seen all year - I mean, he grabs the guy's head and smashes it straight into the glass.

And also, how on Earth did that goal by the Canucks count after Quick was run over by Kesler? Was the ref blind or something?

The fact that Dreger is basically saying Sutter tendered his resignation because he doesn't agree with the vision for the team really doesn't bode well.

There's a certain core group of players who need to be shipped out, as they will never shape up. How many coaches have left in frustration? Iginla really isn't a very good leader.

Seems highly likely it'll be the exact same team, with the exact same finish next year.

I respectfully disagree. I think the "Sutter style" is what's ruined this team. They've changed the roster endless times with no success. The grinding, D-first "system" hockey HAS to go. D. Sutter wore out his usefulness, Playfair was his protegee to a large degree, Keenan - well, there's a reason he hasn't had a coaching job in years - and B. Sutter was more of the same.

The best hockey this team played all season was when enough of the old guard was injured (and it wasn't Iginla this year). The kids who came up played fantastically, because they hadn't had the skill ground out of them by Sutter's coaching style. Dump what we can in terms of contracts, bury Stajan in the minors, bring up 10 guys who haven't played more than 50 games in the NHL, and let Iggy fight every second game and show the kids how to play with some emotion.
