Good work Freki, living the good life traveling. How about any Karachi pics? Or Addis Ababa? You should do the highlands of Ethiopia for your next trip, something unique.

Neither of those places speak to me - I prefere places with some degree of order and security without religious law and where you can trust the athorities and locals alike

It doesn't have to be a developed nation as such, but there needs to be order and a low crime rate and of course urbanity and nature that speaks to me

I feel you man, and plus you are bringing the girlfriend along and you have concerns there. If you want something different how about the Caucasus. Georgia is fascinating I lived there for 5 months and Azerbaijan sounds pretty interesting from the lonely planet book I read about it. Baku seems like a hybrid Beirut/Dubai. Booming but not with supertalls.

Hey Freki, what line of work do you do? You seem to travel so much, are you in real estate or international business?

Nothing fancy - I just work with process development, no fancy trips in that - traveling is just part of Danish/Scandinavian culture, it's something all do here - people would find it odd if someone didn't go to other countries doing the year here.

When you live in a small Kingdom the outside world is hard not to notice, so it's expected that people go see the world for themselves.

Personally I'm mainly drawn by urbanity, but nature, infrastructure, weather, culture, liberty, equality and order also plays a big part - why I typically stick to developed nations and also often revisit places I have been multiple times before..

Why don't you try the Caucasus for something different yet with law and order being present. The mountains are stunning, if you are in to wine Georgia has some really unique stuff. I lived in Tibilisi for 5 months so I can recommend it. Too bad the nicest part of Black Sea coastline (Abkazhia) is under Russian control so not sure how accessible it is for a citizen of Denmark. Batumi on the Southern Coast bordering Turkey is kick ass though.

Azerbaijan sounds great from what I read in the Lonely Planet book and Baku is seems to be a hybrid Beirut/Dubai it is booming but not with supertalls. Being the worlds original oil boomtown it also has some stunning old residential neighborhoods.

I don't know how you make that much money to travel all over the place and I sure wish I had your life.

the difficult time is having the MONEY AND TIME to travel all over the place. Most young people who have the money do not have the time. And the ones who have a lot of time on their hands, do not have the money. Then there are those of us who have neither

We have touched this topic before and I sadly don't even make all that much ( I hardly make average here ) not to mention my taxes and rent is likely much higher than just about anyone here's..

My trick to travelling is:

A: stay out of debt - if I was in debt I would feel bad about using money rather than paying the debt off

B: save for it - I put aside money monthly to various accounts - one for gadgets, one for pension, one for various needs and one for travelling

C: make it happen - nothing happens by itself - it's all about ordering those planetickets and booking that hotel
