The fall. It's a sea of colors in the fall. But the view of Central Park is great year round. The snow covered view will be a site also.
The view is one of the forces behind this tower's success.

Wow $95 million for a single condo,in Montreal you can put up a 40 floor tower with that much money. You can't help but admire the progress NYC has made over the last 30 years, anyone remember the shambles the city was in the 70"s and 80's?

There seem to be more people here in New York nostalgic for the grittiness and chaos of the 70s/80s than people who think $95 million for a single condo is "progress." Can't say I entirely disagree with them.

^ Put a top hat and monocle on that guy and he fits right in to the penthouse.

I'm sure he'd enjoy the place as long as he had plenty of food to gorge on!

Is Either of These Two Nigerian Billionaires Among One57′s Billionaire Bad Boys?

Aliko Dangote

Mike Adenuga

By Daniel Edward Rosen
9/19/12

Quote:
What timing! No sooner was it revealed that a number of the world’s billionaires have bought into Extell’s One57 tower than Forbes releases its annual list of the world’s billionaires. Good luck figuring out who some of the Chinese or British money men who bought in the building are—they number in the dozens by now—but how about the Nigerians? With only two billionaires in the country, it would appear one of them has to be among Gary Barnett’s big hitter tenants. Either Aliko Dangote (#76 on this year’s list of the World’s Billionaires), Africa’s cement king, or Mike Adenuga (#248), the “reclusive” head of Conoil Producing, an oil company, will soon be rubbing elbows with the rest of the world’s billionaires inside Barnett’s luxury tower at 157 West 57th Street.

Mr. Dangote, 55, owes his $11.2 billion fortune to sugar, cement and flour, according to Forbes. He recently opened a new $1 billion cement plant in Nigeria that is expected to increase his company’s output by 40 percent. His company Dangote Cement is the largest company on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. But is Mr. Dangote the type to rule his massive African business empire from the comfort of his multimillion dollar condo? In addition to Conoil Producing, the 59-year-old Mr. Adenuga also owns Globacom, Nigeria’s second-largest mobile telecom firm, according to Forbes. With a modest $4.3 billion tied to his name, perhaps Mr. Adenuga is comfortable maintaining his eremetic lifestyle and running his telecom company while perched high up in Mr. Barnett’s 1,005-foot tower?

The nine full-floor apartments sold at One57 have all gone to billionaire buyers, as was reported earlier today. While their identities have so far been under wraps, the big-time buyers come from all parts of the globe, including China, Canada, Great Britain, the U.S. and Nigeria.

This will truly be a tower of power.

One thing the tour guide forgot to mention while in the theatre is the view of 432 Park Avenue from the penthouse atop One57.

I wish I were a Billionaire.

The top of the tower should be a public reserved area that people that know about this tower can go to via an appointment. The views are too great to just be seen by some rich sap that might not even be in his penthouse for at least half the year.

That would defeat the purpose of the "exclusitivity" that justifies the prices also. This tower is meant to make money, not provide a perch for public viewing. At least Barnett has said this tower is a "gift" to the City, meaning at least we get to look at it as opposed to from it. There are many towers in the City with great views, but not all of them are as nice to look at. You take what you can get.

there are plenty of obs tower perches that make $, but that would not be a very good idea for this bldg, its too small up there for that. aren't those in office bldgs anyway? you bet the wealthy buyers want exclusivity and privacy -- god forbid the non-help public enter the place

Yes, suggesting that a skyscraper should have an observation deck automatically makes one a communist.
