Nestled in the Washington University in St. Louis Medical Center, here's progress on St. Louis College of Pharmacy's 7-story, $47-million mixed-use building that will feature a gymnasium, dorm and student center.

The first floor of the new 193,000-square-foot building will consist of a large dining hall and kitchen, reception area, and a competition gymnasium. The second floor will have additional seating for the dining hall, meeting rooms, and an intramural gymnasium. A recreation center with a 200-meter, three-lane indoor track will be the main feature on the third floor. The student center, including a success center and student support offices, will be on the fourth floor. The College’s second residence hall with room for 220 beds will be on the fifth through seventh floors, nearly doubling the College’s on-campus housing space.

I think Downtown Clayton will continue to see high-rises and skyscrapers like 212 Built over the next several year but St. Louis City will soon catch up in our Downtown and Central Corridors. Hopefully this year, proposals of over 320 feet are released for projects in the City. Regarding 212 South Meramec, the One Hundred Tower in CWE will be roughly the same height.

Some interesting news today regarding Hotel Development, The Trump Organization (Now lead by Donald Junior and Eric) have began to sign deals in 15 American Cities to add in a Scion Hotel. Its a Hotel that is cheaper than the traditional Trump Hotels. The have only released the names of a few cities that I have found, Nashville, Denver, San Francisco and Dallas are just 4 cities out of the 17 Letters of Intent with developers to open up in an additional 13 Cities. Most of the Hotels would be in new shiny buildings. SO that leaves me with the idea that one could be heading for here. The Head of the hotel company said that there re about 390 Large metropolitan areas in the U.S and he believes that they could be in all of them eventually. Which is why I believe that a Scion Hotel could be coming here soon. But as to where at, I would guess in either the Brentwood- Clayton area or Downtown St. Louis near where all the attractions are.

I will be curious to see what Clayton's population growth looks like for this decade. Should be a substantial increase with all of these projects completed and underway.

Site prep is underway for a long-proposed project for The Grove neighborhood, which is near CORTEX and both St. Louis University campuses (North and Medical).

The Koman Group and Green Street Development are partnering to develop a ground- up 235 unit mulitifamily building with an accompanying 22,000 SF of retail in the booming Grove neighborhood of St. Louis.

In addition, the new building will have a parking garage, a dog park, a new community park and include artwork at Chouteau and Sarah. Amenities also include a pool and a clubhouse.

St. Louis gaining 300 jobs as part of Nestlé USA's HQ move to Virginia
Quote:
Nestlé USA is moving its headquarters from California to northern Virginia, and as part of the relocation will centralize its IT operations in St. Louis, expanding its workforce in the city by 300 jobs.

Swiss-based Nestlé, the world’s largest food company with brands including Perrier water and Häagen-Dazs ice cream, already has a large presence in St. Louis. The U.S. headquarters of its pet products division, Nestlé Purina PetCare, has about 2,700 employees at its office campus south of downtown and its Purina Event Center in Gray’s Summit.

A hot corner in Clayton - near downtown Clayton - has received yet again another revised rendering.

Nimbys in Clayton are a strong lot so I'm sure the changes have been influenced by the nimbys.

Is this newly-proposed design too "Hollywood" or too "Miami" for St. Louis?

Here's the latest:
-10K sf retail
-30K sf grocery
-412K sf of residential
-300K sf parking garage
-188 retail parking spaces
-298 apartments and 548 resident parking spaces
-85ft, seven above and three below

Read about the latest proposal HERE on NextSTL.com

St. Louis' Central Corridor (Midtown) is gearing up for another major reuse project.

The old Armory Building (where I used to go to high school parties YEARS ago) in Midtown will be renovated and made in office/work space as part of an $83-million project that will feature a hotel, offices, a spa and retail.

Read about it HERE on NextSTL.com.

Plans also include new streetscape and a skybridge across I-64 into Midtown.

This project is in the vicinity of CORTEX, City Foundry (under construction Phase I), St. Louis University, and the Washington University and SLU Medical Centers.

It's not necessarily a big project, but it is a great infill along the Delmar Loop.

Contrary to what naysayers suggest about the new trolley, the Delmar Loop is seeing a lot of development interest because of it.

This $26-million, mixed-use building will go onto what is currently a Shell gas station.

Read more and see more renderings HERE @ NextSTL.com.

A development tour and insight into one of St. Louis' fastest gentrifying and diverse neighborhoods - The Grove.

The video doesn't include all of the new developments planned and under construction.

This neighborhood is near CORTEX, both major urban medical centers, Washington University and St. Louis University.
