US Tech plans big
In its efforts to upgrade itself as the largest IT hub in Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram-based US Technology has charted a mega expansion plan by building a 16-lakh sft campus adjacent to the Technopark here.

The campus, to be spread across 36 acres of land, would house 12,000 employees. The company, a provider of end-to-end IT services for Fortune 500 companies, currently employs over 4,000 associates.

With the upcoming campus, the US Technology space would become one among the largest IT hubs for a single company in Kerala, said a company spokesperson.

The final plan for the campus comes more than a year after the agreement for the land was signed by the officials and the then chief minister of Kerala.

The Kerala government under the former UDF chief minister Oommen Chandy had allotted land for the campus in 2006 and an agreement to this effect was inked by company officials with Chandy. The campus will be ready in three phases. The first phase is expected to become operational by Dec 2008, the spokesperson said. The company, however, preferred to keep the planned investment figures under wraps.

The campus would represent our commitment to making Kerala a hub for IT services excellence,・said Sajan Pillai, president and chief operating officer, US Technology.

The campus will feature connected buildings that enable people to work together easily. Informal meeting and reflection spaces will be accommodated by pavilions in the external environment and will be operated round-the-clock.
