That view also shows how far away you are.

*******
I wonder how Burke Mountain Village relates in way of location to potential extensions of the Evergreen Line?

I'd actually like to see less retail through that stretch. Traffic is just nuts there. All of those dated strip malls could really be combined.

I drove around that area just south of Lougheed and east of north road last week, I think they call it sunset. A lot of the houses are behind fencing now making way for a lot of new developments, from the signs they look like 8 storey apartments. That area has always felt kinda weird and off on its own, its hard to access. I wonder if they will create a new road in at the Guilby Street/Lougheed intersection to better access the area.

The only extension of the Millennium Line in Coquitlam I've ever heard about is taking advantage of the spur just before Coquitlam Central and shooting it down Lougheed Highway towards Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, and Maple Ridge, never extending past Lafarge. That's not to say it wouldn't happen though.

I assume an extension would be expected - in the long term.
They chose to orient the terminus facing north, instead of the alternate route along Guildford Way and having the terminus facing south and east to Port Coquitlam (for an extension without switching).

Map of Burke Mountain now. Map of Burke Mountain as envisioned. The "village" is supposed to be at David and Mitchell.

Granted, it's an easy four klicks of track (assuming Town Centre Park is cooperative), but if Coquitlam's plan is to build a whole lot of stuff in the middle of the woods and then demand that TransLink come and save it, then that's a sh*t plan.

Thanks.
Yeah, that was what I was wondering, because David Ave is the only main road up there that SkyTrain could follow (and a 2 station spur forever (Lincoln and LaFarge Lake-Douglas) seems like an operational annoyance)

Are they planning to build higher density in the Burke Mountain Town Centre? As in perhaps apartment blocks 6-10 stories high?

I checked out the Soleil presentation center yesterday in White Rock. I'm really excited for this project. This will be the tallest in White Rock and will have a dramatic impact on the skyline.

Hotel and condos could be part of plan to revitalize New Westminster’s Columbia Theatre

The City of New West considered a proposal to build a 22-storey mixed-use residential and commercial development on the Columbia Theatre site
By Theresa McManus, New Westminster Record | January 28, 2019

The City of New Westminster’s land use and planning committee recently considered a pre-application report from staff about a proposal to build a 22-storey mixed-use residential and commercial development on the Columbia Theatre site at 530 Columbia St. In addition building a tower with 70 to 80 hotel units and 155 residential strata units, the proponent is proposing to retain and restore historic elements in the interior and exterior of the theatre. | Jennifer Gauthier

The owners of the Columbia Theatre are prepared to invest several hundred thousand dollars into a feasibility study to assess the possibility of building a hotel and residential tower above the heritage theatre.

Tricor Pacific Land and Redic Developments have submitted a pre-application review to the city regarding a proposal to build a 22-storey mixed-use residential and commercial development on the Columbia Theatre site at 530 Columbia St. In addition building a tower with 70 to 80 hotel units and 155 residential strata units, the proponent is proposing to retain and restore historic elements in the interior and exterior of the atmospheric-style theatre that opened in 1927.

A stacked townhouse project in Burquitlam got the green light despite opposition from several area residents at a public hearing Monday.

Council approved second and third reading of the rezoning request by Adera Development to build three three-storey buildings containing 60 units on four lots in the 400 block of Lea Avenue because the proposal matched the type of housing council approved for the street in the Burquitlam neighbourhood plan adopted a couple of years ago.

Sounds promising as they propose to retain the theatre.
A hotel would be great for the area.

New West desperately needs another hotel. There's another proposal for one a couple of blocks away from this proposal, at 8th Street and Carnarvon.

That looks VERY similar to the recently constructed Onni building down the street at Westwood and Lincoln.
