Its literally impossible to keep track of all of these projects. No idea how you can keep them all straight, Harry.

Thanks again for the awesome pics!

I often use Solar's sets - he uses the current names.

Building Up Chicago found out that Alta Grand Central is undergoing site prepping, after looking through their Instagram account

Quote:
A couple new Instagram accounts popped up in our feed last night. And they announced the same thing: There’s a new development coming to the southwest corner of Harrison and Wells in the South Loop: Alta Grand Central.

Alta Grand Central looks like it will be an apartment development comprised of two 14-story towers, with a total of 346 units. Wood Partners is the developer, Pappageorge Haymes Partners the design architect, and Walsh Construction will be the general contractor. If those names sound familiar, just look around the corner for Alta Roosevelt.

According to that Instagram post, site prep got started Wednesday. No permits as of Tuesday, but we should get a fresh round of those any minute now. Congrats, Alta Team!

It's crazy how this thing has crept up. It was basically about a month ago that the public found out about it due to the zoning board agenda. The meeting on May 18th saw the approval of it. They've had pending permits for the last few months with the last action on 5/2 and 5/3. So I guess maybe it means that we'll see the issuance of said permits soon? I can't even find these buildings on any other sites which keep track of this stuff (just buildings in general). That's pretty crazy.

^^^ I think this proposal is a sign of developers showing more restraint in this cycle. Yes we've seen some supertall proposals lately, but the stuff breaking ground as of late is much more restrained, probably because of the huge dump of apartments already in the pipeline for 2019 and 2020. 350 units on this site is paltry, but this goes back to the density debate about midrise vs highrise. There was originally rumors of a much larger development here, but I'll take what we can get given that the South Loop is beautiful, and rich and has got HUGGGGEEEEEE tracts of land.

Speaking of South Loop apartments, Curbed just reported that Ancora was rebranded as "The Cooper."

I know there are worse things that developers can do, but it's so hard to keep track of all these name changes. 113 E Roosevelt becomes One Grant Park becomes NEMA; One South Halsted becomes 727 W Madison; Riverline gets split, now this.

I'm waiting for Vista to be renamed "Wacker Stacker at Lakeshore East".
