Don’t know if this has been mentioned but plans for 210 n Stetson look to be a 930ft residential tower designed by scb. 750000sf. Can’t add renderings now but it looks nice.

^ woah!

930', that's a big tower.

i have not heard any such plans mentioned anywhere.

that's the old Mandarin Oriental site, right?

hey oldtimers, remember that one? it was SCB as well, IIRC.

I'm trying not to get too excited (930 is awesome btw), but with how much tower heights have been changing lately- Site I and 110N Wacker- this could potentially to ANOTHER supertall proposal. Unreal. Fingers crossed for a bold tower along the lines of Anaha in Hawaii.

Handro, thanks for sharing. If you could PM LouisVanderWright with the details, he will sketch the design on a napkin and share with all of us. (See early pages of Vista Tower thread)

I don't know about sketching that, but I do know that whoever designed the HVAC units for Hoxton was a total dipshit. They stick like 1 floor out above everything else on the top of the building.

That might explain why they built out a continuation of the Illinois Center's pedway into that lot recently! Looks weird now that it just leads into that lot, but explains a why they did it now

I assumed it was an homage to the many West Loop water towers. The cooling tower has a similar shape.

The architect was Morris Adjmi, not some hack, so I give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it's intentional.

A big ugly cooling unit is a silly homage to the humble water tower. I doubt Morris himself designs the mechanical penthouses for his buildings, it was probably left to some intern or didn't bother to consider the implications and the developer was too dim to catch it before it was already up there...

Yeah, Im not sure I buy the homage angle either. It seems to be a recent struggle for a number of recent developments. The barnacle atop linea looks like it wasn’t even considered. EMME looks like the planned for a space, but the equipment doesn’t fit. Wasn’t there just also a place in maybe streeterview that was sued and had to add screening after the fact?

Oldtimers!?!?

Ha! Oldtimers would be those that posted about the Park Tower going up. I was in high school and was just a nerdy lurker. Nalyd's baby...

yeah, i was one of those posting here about park tower going up back in '99.

it was park tower's construction that first led me to SPP nearly 20 years ago.

but anyone who remembers an old fizzled proposal like M-O from the last boom also qualifies as an oldtimer now as well.

Whoa, that'd be incredible to get that height there. I'm glad we're getting all these 900 footer proposals bc they really look good in the skyline. Supertall peaks are obviously great, but 900 footers really add depth and that stacked feeling.

Geez looking at that Mandarin proposal again, glad we didn't get it. I'm sure whatever they've cooked up this time is sexier.

Adjmi walked away from that one. It's all GREC.

That sort of suggests that the cheapness of the developer may be at fault.
