Same here... mine (a '95) got up to 350k before I had to get rid of it. I'm currently looking for a rust-free 95-99 manual coupe to replace my Corolla. Those Neons did get great mileage as well, better than a Corolla (although that's a little known fact, I think). I really loved mine.

Slightly more on topic for a skyscraper/urbanism forum, and still car-related, one thing the Americans do much better than us is terms of urban architecture is the styling of those multi-stories parking lots...

Just compare this downtown Sherbrooke picture to what you can see below in downtown Atlanta (behind my fine little 5-spd SOHC 1995 Neon coupe).

Is it so hard to clad them in a way that'd make them bland at least a little bit with the urban fabric? Why can't we?

In some Midwest town...

Here it is parked in downtown Sherbrooke.

I have a Suzuki SX4. Fairly rare car in Canada, however there are quite a few around Saskatoon. When I bought it, the dealer claimed that it was the most fuel efficient AWD on the market in Canada.

Yep, the very last Dakota. (It got a MCE (new face and a couple other updates) for MY2008.)

Nice truck, BTW.
Unfortunately you are correct - last of the breed.

Hopefully this Dakota lasts as long as my previous one - that way I should still be driving her in 2023
She's just about to roll over 100k as I use it mainly for hauling tha trailer (or other people's crap), camping and the occasional highway trip.

Drove back to Ontario last summer and while driving through North Dakota, I pulled out to pass a line of transport trucks. By the time I passed them all and was back in my lane, we were humming along at just over 180km - I LOVE my V8!

Yeah, I noticed that... it's a really good spot! I find myself frequently grabbing a decaf from Higher Ground, then driving up there and just taking in the view at night.

My car as of today in the blizzard. My other car is definately a bike. Try to not drive if I dont have to. But when I do, I enjoy this little ride. Just a 325 but pretty good all around car and performance. Have blizzaks all around (ws 60s) and the snow and ice are no problem.

The new 6 looks awesome, too bad it's only a 4 Cylinder with automatic or paddle shifters, definitely lacks the fun factor. Hopefully they make a speed version with a V6 and proper 6 speed manual...
The new one does have a proper 6-speed manual, though. It's even got the same short-throw rod linkage system that you find in a Miata. And the new naturally aspirated 4-cylinder actually has slightly more horsepower than my own V6 (184 vs. 182) although it falls slightly short on torque (185 ft-lbs vs. 190 ft-lbs). And this is accomplished without turbochargers, I swear those Japanese are wizards. The diesel, with 310 ft-lbs of torque (more than a BMW 335i) will be very delicious when it arrives.

In general I love 5-door hatches, but there are so very few of them. What did we get? The Mazda 6 and the Saab 9-3, and that was it. Again, thank you America.

The real problem with Neons is the structural integrity in a crash, not the reliability. In my experience, if they haven't blown up by 100,000 kilometres they will pretty much run indefinitely.

I also love the Mazda 2. Especially in green, it reminds me of a little anime aphid with that cute antenna sticking out of its head. Good city car, and cheap to buy.

My Jetta TDI Highline outside the Chan Centre at UBC. Love the diesel, wouldn't go back to gas.

In Canada I sometimes drive my parent's car. Like this, minus the ugly licence plate in front:

Wow, lio45 over 300,000kms! That's great. I don't see too many on the roads these days but the ones I do see seem to still be in decent shape.

Yeah I heard something about the crash factor but I also had people try and tell me the Neon was a lemon, don't buy it. Sure, it's not the best built car (the frameless windows for starters) but compared to my parent's early '90s GM car....yeah. I also had a Plymouth Acclaim that I bought off my parents and that was over 220,000 when I sold it (I still regret it) and it was super-low maintenance even though my mom never bothered much with routine maintenance.

Anyway, just so I don't feel left out, My car can now join the skyline in the background group, taken just yesterday:

A man cut from the same cloth.

Current is an 02' S2000 that is somewhat a track whore. I walk to work or use LRT for most outings.
