For those of you put off by this design, Miami could do with more of this kind of eccentricity. Thus far, this historic boom has produced too-little in the way of truly interesting designs.

I think it looks great.
Surprised to see so many people dislike it.

Im not sure about this one, I really have to think outside the box more. At first glance, I thought of a childrens toy, and yes, swiss cheese. Its definitely radical and different, but it could turn out to be a flop or be really great - no inbetween. Depends on how it turns out and maybe the finish, it cant have a 'cheap' look. I do like the top, but wonder about the structural stability and what type of material they would use to house those wind turbines. Either way, this is a very interesting proposal.

Well for those who wanted an update on the project....the developer is developing four projects in the area, one has brokenground but nothing else from the other three which include this building,COR, a recent release said that construction would start this year, i still dont believe it will ever come out of the ground but thats just my opinion.

I like this tower a lot. I think it looks great in Miami, but I think if this was going up somewhere in the midwest, I'd probably be very upset. But that's what context is all about.

I agree with that comment that its refreshing compared to the block of balconies you always see. But then again, you always need a good amount of generic buildings to make projects like these special.

why do you say that? this building would be absolutely fantastic in chicago. this is exactly the type of forward looking architecture i wanna see more of in chicago. why should radical cutting edge design be excluded from the midwest? that seems really unfair.

(fortunately, chicago has some extremely exciting design stuff on the horizon that doesn't fit in at all, and it's going to be fantastic)

Chicago is in the Midwest? haha...no I'm kidding.

honestly I'm not one to lump chicago with the rest of the Midwest, and I don't think that's what Hayward meant either. I sure would be uncomfortable if this was going up in Omaha or Fargo, though.

I really like this design too. At first I thought it looked as if Salvador Dali drew it when he was not tripping out.

Steely you know Chicago is the anomaly of the midwest when it comes to architecture.

this building is nice but it would look better at probably 700-800 feet

i disagree, i think the design would be too much if it were that tall, especially since its in the design district, which is like Miami's SoHo. SoHo would not look good with an 800-footer, neither would Design District.

just my opinion tho.

Very interesting design. I really hope it gets built, it will add innovative architecture to Miami's midtown skyline.

Any new news on this one? I'm bringing this thread back....

It won't get built. It's Miami and this design is too interesting.

Hell yeah, I'm bitter.

You're right, many times these very interesting designs never work in Miami. Kind of like the Oppenheim Miami-Dade Wolfson Tower....which was also very interesting like this.....but I doubt it will get built. I'm still holding out a bit of hope for COR though because it's in the design district, not downtown, where things like this might have a slightly better chance.

The interesting designs usually don't work in Miami but I'll take tall and elegant over radical and "interesting" designs any day if the "interesting" building is only 25 floors and 400 feet.
