I pass through and stop by Burlington at least once a month. And I used to live there a few years ago for 1.5 years. Come to think of it, I can't recall there being any new subdivisions under construction at the moment other than a small addition to an existing one at Walkers and Dundas. A couple of condos might be under construction right now that I can kind of picture in my mind. Though rapid development might be very well be in their master plan. There is plenty of room north of Dundas as you start to go up the Escarpment. And I know there are some more proposed condos DT.
Oakville OTH is chock full of new development along the north side of Dundas. But, of course, Oakville is not in Hamilton's CMA. Neither is Milton, which is also exploding with new subdivisions.
And can you see a day where StatsCan shifts Burlington from Hamilton's CMA and into Toronto's? And at the same time get rid of Oshawa's CMA status, which includes Whitby, and lump it in with TO? In Burlington's case, it seems funny because it's part of Halton Region with Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills yet it's in Hamilton's CMA, while the other cities are in Toronto's.
Anyway, if they did do that to Burlington, there would be even less a chance of Hamilton reaching that 1 mil mark.
And ya, I think Hamilton would remain as a CMA for at least a couple of decades before they even considered it as being in Toronto's. That's just my gut feeling.
