You would think, I was up yesterday, it was pretty clear but alas Edmonton is in a basin so we are to low to see. However you can clearly see out past Wabumum to the west. Past Elk Island to the east. I hope to get up again and will bring my big lens and see how far we really can see.

It is about 250km from Edmonton to the closest mountain, so even from the top of a 250m tower I don't think you would ever be able to see that far, don't think the atmosphere is that clear ever. The curvature of the earth would obscure them quite a bit as well.

BMO site - 150-200m - proposed
Encore - 138m - u/c far right
Ice District Tower B - ~150m - January start - just to the right of Stantec
Wexford 104st/103ave - ~120-40m - rezoning - foreground of Encore

Wasn't expecting to see them, First chance we can see them is about 150km west of here. Even with the slight overcast it was remarkable how for you could see though. One comment that was made was you can really see the sprawl.

I will have plenty more chances to compare the view.

Yeah I wouldn't expect to actually see the mountains from as far away as Edmonton unless you were several thousand feet up, or there was some strange atmospheric phenomenon.

Being high up in a tower definitely gives you a good view of the sprawl, I could marvel at the sprawl here from 23 floors up an office tower, that would be about 1/3 the height of Stantec lol.

As much as I like to rag on Stantec's design, this picture above makes it clear how much nicer it is than Epcor, that's such an odd looking tower!

I don't think it's that bad except for the silly looking 'ears' at the top, complete with lame cheating spires. That part is terrible... if they had just built it with a flat roofline it would have been much more impressive. The rest is OK.

Yuck:

CIBC doesn't get enough attention. It might be one of the nicest looking office complexes to go up since the BOW. Also it's nice to see that Pinnacle mess of condos will soon be blocked from certain views.

Let the Calgary and Edmonton boys have their fun.
Next year it will be back to back CIBC and One Bloor updates and will bore the hell out of everyone to be sure.

Not too much longer and this list will be all Toronto once again, and it will be very hard for another city to break into the list. The height requirement here is gonna be ridiculous.

That's what I dislike about it as well, that and the glazing is sooo dark and reflective.

The building on the BMO site is little more than an idea at this time. It is years away from development at this point.
