^ I only saw part of the game before going to sleep (it was 4-3 when I clicked off the TV), but the score was way closer than it should have been. I know, I know, complaining that the win wasn't decisive enough... but still, the way the Jets manhandled the Canucks the score should have mirrored the Calgary game.

Good way to start the road trip

lol Edmonton fired McLellan and hired Hitchcock. Guess Queneville is going to St Louis!

Edit, nevermind, St Louis has Berube and Robinson as the coaching duo now.

The team played absolutely awful in front of him, every pass was picked up by the Flames. That's probably the most one sided game I've seen (I didn't see the Flames 9-1 loss to Pittsburgh though).

Hitchcock won't be an improvement on McLellan. Problem still lies with upper management.

Absolutely, still too many of the old guard casting a shadow over the current team. I'm happy with the move though, Flames need points in their division!

I think the Canucks bubble is about to burst, they have now allowed 14 more goals than they have scored.

Bold strategy Edmonton. Possibly the most defensive-minded coach for a team struggling to generate offense apart from McDavid.

Could be a good guy in the interim to put some defensive responsibility on the young players though.

It appears the mark to beat is 164 games for coaches in Edmonton...since the glory days of MacTavish as coach...

Pat Quinn 82 games
Tom Renney 164 games
Ralph Krueger 48 games
Dallas Eakins 113 games
Todd Nelson 51 games
Todd McLellan 164 games

If Hitchcock is smart it's a four year contract with a guaranteed payout because there's little chance that Chiarelli and him last more than two. Although look how long Lowe lasted, so who knows with this organization.

Well we are on a 6 game losing streak so I think it’s already burst haha!

The Canucks are actually sitting pretty good for losing 6 in a row, just 3 points back of Calgary and San Jose for the division lead...

IF Chia had managed the OIlers worth a damn they would be an offensive juggernaut but he pissed away so many assets. Worst trading GM in the league going back to his days in Boston for which he was given entirely too much credit for their Stanley Cup victory.

CHia's fate is tied to how quickly Hitchcock can turn the team into a respectable defensive-minded group. That might be impossible with the Oilers current core.

Both GM and coach should have been fired after last season. It was so obvious the coach lost the team last year.

Ha I know. Luckily the Pacific is weak. The Canucks built up a bunch of points before the 6 regulars got injured for weeks.

I expect Hitchcock to only be here for this season. When Chia gets shit canned in the summer, the new GM will pick his own coach.

Im staying positive tho.
Was never a fan of Todd McLellan. Guy has a personality of a pencil. Our GM is not really a GM.
I could do a better job for...lets say half the price

Flames - Jets should be a good game tonight, lets see if the Flames can keep their scoring touch against a stingy Winnipeg team.
