Downtown Phoenix Construction Update Photos Jan 2011
Haven't done one of these in a while so decided today was the day.
Starting out with the Westin...
What's interesting here is that they have the Province restaurant sign up, both on the sign and on the windows, but inside the place absolutely nothing has been done...even the floor is still dirt/gravel.
Next up is Luhrs and if anyone has any idea of what is going on here, I'd love to know it. We've seen permits for some tentant that is taking floors 2 - 9 of the Luhr's Building (not Tower, but Building) and also the Arcade (1 story building facing Jefferson) but that doesn't explain why the 1st floor of the Luhr's Tower's windows have also been removed and why have all the windows been removed at all? Even if doing tentant improvements inside, why not do it with the windows in place?
Looking through the glass on the back of the building (in the alley)
Cityscape and Arrogant Butcher in particular...
The area above Arrogant Butcher is empty and according to the Cityscape maps, this is where the Tilted Kilt will be located. My question is...where will the climate controlled outdoor patio for Arrogant Butcher be?
Vitamin T around 11:30am...pretty quiet but there were two people at the counter inside ordering.
Something weird...there is a ticket booth built next to the excalators, but inside is a stairwell?
44 Monroe's lobby is looking fantastic...not only did they do the space next to the lobby into a really nice looking lounge/whateveritis but they also completely redid the lobby itself and it looks a ton better than the cheesy modern look they had going before.
Central Station Refurbish...not really much to see here...
Biomedical HSEB going vertical..
The motel is gone and a parking lot is coming soon...
Last on the list of updates, the new Courts Building...
And finally some random shots I snapped. Why can't we have more building like this in Phoenix, I love it...
The "ticket booth" to me is 100% without a doubt a valet window. Hand valet ticket to attendent takes it to runner behind booth, who goes downstairs to get car. This is especially reinforced to me because there is a pull out drive there which can be used to park cars. Very similar to the system used in most large hotels. You'll probably see a ticket scanner show up at that window very soon as well.
Wow! Its looks great! I can see new Maricopa County courthouse. I did not have a chance to see it yet. I was extremely busy at home to reading the forums and does not have enough time to go see in downtown Phoenix. I haven't gone on light rail for a long time.
