Shit happens. Sometimes there isn't much you can do if an accident happens that causes a big set back. 6-8 months isn't unreasonable for a water main break that affects the elevator system. It is a major building system with high safety requirements and they likely need to pull a bunch apart just to get at everything, inspect, and repair.

Sucks for people that bought into it but I've said it in many other threads, that a large portion of major projects get delayed and delayed by a big chunk. A friend of mine just moved into his new construction townhouse in South Surrey last month and we're talking townhouses, not 50 storey mixed use high-rise here, and his townhouse was delayed 10 months from original completion date only for the fact they had difficulty getting certain trades on time especially finishing trades and had a hold up with appliances.

This stuff happens.

Wasn't there a water main break at MC2 (Marine & Cambie) after residents had moved in and the elevators were out of order for weeks?

Rising Waters - Impact on Elevator and Escalators

An event such as a flood or fire can cause extensive damage and cripple a building. Elevators are especially susceptible to flooding given that the elevator pits are usually one of the lowest points in a building and therefore water will pool there. Whether the flooding is caused by a natural disaster, by a broken pipe somewhere in the building or by a drain back-up, more than likely the elevators in the building will be impacted in some manner.

Potential Damage

The following components are damaged during floods based on the type and extent of the water :

Elevator Pit
- Guide rails, rail brackets;
- Both oil- and spring-type buffers (oil buffers require oil replacement if water gets into the system);
- Limit switches and hoistway wiring; and
- Elevator entrance sills and door equipment could be effected should the water level reach the height of the entrance.

Hydraulic elevators
- the hydraulic cylinder and piping
- hydraulic plunger; and
- LifeJacket components

Traction
- hoist ropes
- governor sheaves and ropes
- compensation sheaves and ropes (where provided);
- any wiring, electromechanical components or circuit board equipment directly affected by the flooding.

I love rebutting raw ignorance with facts, so here it is: In the year 2017, Surrey had 12 homicides and Vancouver for all its vaunted "safety and security" had 19. Quoted from the Vancouver Sun article linked below.

I never said anything about the City of Vancouver, and murder totals are only part of the picture.

The forum would be a better place without your impotent rebuttals.

Also don't change what I said when quoting me.

According to the numbers provided by BC Assessment, North Surrey condos saw the biggest gains, with a 40 per cent spike from $217,000 to $303,000.

Property taxes only go up if your place rises higher than the municipal average, and it looks like it did in north Surrey's case.

Tried getting some photos inside but I couldn't see much with the fences still in the way. It was incredibly bright in there as well.
