She went up quick.

I wonder how far ahead of schedule all these towers are not including the Vista and her big glass?

Has there been any talk about night lighting on this one? I know we talked about this when it started but just thinking about it again now. I originally thought some quiet white LED's along the fins would be nice, kind of like Legacy's crown. Idea's?

I know one of the superintendents for the general contractor on this site. He’s a great guy that doesn’t take excuses and gets $#|+ done. I’m incredibly proud of his work on this beautiful building.

Man, Essex just towers over everything from Michigan Ave. It doesn't help that there is nothing remotely close to it in height in its immediate vicinity. Gives it the look of a much taller building.

^The ceremony was today, but the actual final core pour is next Tuesday and final supported slab pour is some time after the holiday... core formwork and screenwalls will start coming down just after the holiday.

Yeah, the core looks to be at least 40 feet above the slabs at least right now

This building has been the surprise hit of the cycle for me. Every time I go for a run and see it, I'm impressed by how much I like its look, scale, and placement. Even the green, which I initially thought was going to make it look a bit too tropical, is a winning hue.

Interesting, for me it's the exact opposite, it's massively overpowering the street wall, the slab like north and south facing elevations are too heavy and the glass looks like every other bland glass condo tower thats gone up in the last 20 years with a color that screams Miami ca. 2005, but beauty is in the ey of the beholder. I would have liked to see a crescendo in height along Michigan to the intersection of Roosevelt. Furthermore I always appreciated the views to to distant towers and sky from the park and lakefront, uniquely Chicago where it avoids the wall effect of Manhattan, but now Wanda blocks the Hancock from the south, and towers like Essex are really cutting out sky when viewed SW or NW from the Lakefront, the Park is actually starting to feel like a room, almost claustrophobic, the scales are just off. A couple 60-80 story buildings spaced out makes them focal points, visual interest, too many in row and it's lost it's soaring impact and becomes like looking up from deep hole or box and walls to tall to climb out of.

From that last picture how many more floors does the core have to go? Or is it already TO?
