^^^^ haha good one

last night i drove the strip - VERY eerie to see the signs on monte carlo on the tower off...and the entrances to the casino were blocked by velvet ropes with some sign of 'pardon our dust' or something explaing why you cant enter the property...... very werid. even diablos was closed

i never understood why the 3rd ower of signature is off....whats the deal?

also planet hollywood is a blast to just stand in fron tof at night - light everywhere, and the HUGE led screens are amazing to watch. these things are huge!

cant say too much about the tower tho - thata hit and miss (twice)

----speaking of riviera.....i thought it is funny that is riviera want to renovate and rebrand itsself but keep homage to its history it should be renamed to THE RIV. (this is often a nickname to the hotel) but its will kinda slap wynn in the face with his LE REV (ha!)

Monte Carlo fire...foam is ok according to Las Vegas Sun

Today's article in the Las Vegas Sun about the foam clading used at the Monte Carlo makes some curious points.

The first sentence says the foam (that burned) is ok according to building experts and building officials. Yet the article quotes no expert or building official that the foam is ok.

It gets worse. According to the article Monte Carlo can rebuild using exactly the same system that burned. Yet just last week everyone was saying how it wasn't to today's code.

Article also says that there is a debate about whether to make exterior facades nonflammable but some say its too expensive. Gee I thought it was required that all facades be nonflammable. They seem to think its ok for the outside of a building to be constructed of flammable materials.
Then they have pictures of every other building that uses that foams with the caption..."it has never caught fire at the Excaliber". ..etc. Well they may not yet have caught fire but last week we saw that they certainly can!

Finally they do have an expert from the building code that points out with respect to flamability the code has not changed from 1991 to today. What that means of course is that non flammable materials where required in 1991 and they are required today. However this article leads us to believe they aren't required at all.

If it is so perfectly safe to have these flammable facades someone should have told the firemen before they risked their lives.

Here are many new shots of Encore, and some of Echelon from a new perspective. Also there are pics of what once was the Frontier. Enjoy.

Looks like they're soil testing already for the Elad Plaza on the Frontier site.

Got a closer look at the new Caesars tower and they're already working on the second floor.

This is shot from clear over at Turnberry and you can see how wide the Planet Hollywood condo tower is.

Had this been posted yet?
http://www.lvrj.com/business/13917012.html

The 14-story Greek Isles Hotel (formerly the Debbie Reynolds hotel) on Convention Center Drive will be imploded sometime this year. Probably won't happen until after September. Future plans call for two towers with 780 hotel rooms, a 77,000-square-foot casino and 71,200 square feet of convention, retail and restaurants on the 6.1-acre site.

It's right next door to that newly proposed massive Marriott project, and fits the county's plans to have the half-mile stretch between the Strip and the convention center become more of a pedestrian thoroughfare.
