He signed for what he was worth and any team would have paid the same.
Got any other stupid comments?

Plus, it's really not THAT big an accomplishment to win when there were only 6 teams... 8 or 10 isn't even that great either.

In my opinion, I've always given more importance to the 1968 season and later... and I had that opinion as a Leafs fan since I was a kid.
I don't care what the Leafs did 50 plus years ago. It's well before me. That said, the accomplishment of winning a cup during the Original Six years shouldn't be so easily dismissed. 2 teams were shutout during those 26 years

Montreal 10 Cups
Toronto 10 Cups
Detroit 5 Cups
Chicago 1 Cup
Boston 0 Cups
Rangers 0 Cups

Both Boston and the Rangers did win in the years before the Americans folded.

Probabilities from the periods there were six teams (non-logarithmic):

Montreal Canadiens: 0.001 (11 champs, 26 seasons)
Boston Bruins: 0.009 (26 seasons)
New York Rangers: 0.010 (25 seasons)
Toronto Maple Leafs: 0.014 (9 champs, 26 seasons)
Chicago Blackhawks: 0.052 (1 champ, 25 seasons)
Detroit Red Wings: 0.178 (5 champs, 25 seasons)
Montreal Maroons: 0.833 (1 season)
Ottawa Senators: 0.833 (1 season)
Hamilton Tigers: 0.833 (1 season)

The reason why NYR is so high on the list is due to the combinations with winning cause the chances to improve. But win too much like the Canadiens and the odds of winning overwhelm the combinations.

Yep. The Canucks look pretty solid from top to bottom right now. Sedins are a pretty good second line with Loui Eriksson now producing like we hoped. What I find interesting though is how Jake Virtanen is playing lately. He's not scoring, but the way he powers by people is pretty impressive. He looks like a stronger version of Connor McDavid. Anyways, Virtanen is another young Canuck that appears to be trending up (finally).

I figured all hope was lost for that guy after he pretty much lost the World Jrs for us single handedly!

McDavid is likely the best player in the league and any team would give him whatever he wants. That being said, we signed Monahan and Gaudreau combined for what the Oilers got McJesus for.

Flames in Toronto, hoping for a better result than last week! our defense and goaltending have been very weak lately, I expect both to step it up tonight.

Good game by Calgary but Andersen stole the win. Shootout sucks but that overtime was intense.

Tkachuk is a dirtbag though.

3. Detroit Red Wings -86.675
4. Toronto Maple Leafs -78.559
5. Chicago Blackhawks -76.439

7. Philadelphia Flyers -59.323
8. Pittsburgh Penguins -51.365
9. St. Louis Blues -47.039
10. Dallas Stars -44.754
11. Buffalo Sabres -38.209
12. Edmonton Oilers -37.791
13. New York Islanders -36.784

Thank god for Steady Eddie last night. Calgary should have had that game if it were not for him. It's as though the Leafs didn't even try playing until the 3rd period.

Thumbs down

Vancouver loses its future captain for a month and a half. 10th best face off guy in the league. So we're now down two centres.

Seattle seems to be the next team in the NHL. Finally a real geographic rival for the Canucks. And Carolina sold but not to Quebec?

Calgary's Tkachuk gets his 3rd suspension in only his second season!?

Once Seattle aggreed to the 660 million worth of improvements to Key Arena - an NHL expansion application was considered for sure. Also the NBA should be back!

NHL to accept $650 million Seattle expansion application

The NHL will try to downplay it, but they've had a serious hard-on for Seattle for a while. Any opportunity to put a team there, they'll take it. Quebec is being bumped again.

Between the Sounders and an eventual NHL team, this will create a bigger Seattle/Vancouver rivalry which will be good for both leagues and all 4 franchises. An NFL team in Vancouver will push the rivalry even further - and I can see it happening in the not-so-distant future.

NFL will never enter Canada. Vancouver is seahawks territory and that will never change

It's only Seahawks territory because they don't have their own team. And the NFL has proven they have no issues putting a team in another teams market - not that Vancouver is really the Seahawks market anyway.

This would strengthen all leagues in that Seattle/Vancouver rivalry that i'll become a natural thing.

Tkachuck needs to learn you can't get away with these antics like you can in the OHL. The guy is a pretty good hockey player, he needs to focus on that a bit more.

Much better couple games by the Flames, they need to play that way more consistently.
