Well, golly gee let's not leave out the "other" soul mate:

Gran Torre Santiago (Chile)

But that's decent company.

Pelli was clearly inspired by a Dune sandworm:

All of the observations (except the Sonicare and sand worm) have been made before, with photos. I posted my own shots of several Pelli towers from visits to Kuala Lumpur and recently to Santiago. The Hong Kong analogy has also been alive and well.

Same architects too (Pelli Clarke Pelli)
IFC is a more detailed building. Its curtain wall had to be more expensive per unit of area.

More rubbish.

IFC curtainwall:

If anything, Salesforce is more detailed because of the "awnings" that hang over the windows, which help to keep the interior cool and contribute to the LEED Platinum rating. IFC is only LEED Gold, so this is a much more technically advanced tower (and, thus, more expensive per unit of area).

No it doesn't. You should have put Oceanwide Center on there. I think except for the spire, it too is taller than Wilshire Grand. But it seems to be Angelenos who keep wanting to make this some sort of contest. Who really cares?

Anyway, I prefer the classic simplicity of all 3 Pelli towers to the other buildings mentioned just above (and most of the world's modern supertalls if truth be told).

Hey, its only been mentioned like 2-3 times before..

Yup, there's way more aluminum content in salesforce curtainwall making it substantially heavier per sqft and pricier..

Salesforce Resemblance

From day one this is the resemblance that I saw.

According to the SF Chronicle, the Salesforce Tower will be fully enclosed by the end of July and will be fully completed by Jan 2018.

I believe Jan 2018 completion is actually a slight delay. Tenants were supposed to be moving in by the end of 2017.
