What is Railtown?

I've heard this name tossed around on this forum several times on this forum. I assume that it's around the rail yard downtown correct? I'm also assuming that it's a potential area development just like the East Village?

If so, has their been any designs for the area talked up yet? Is development set to happen sometime within the few years?

This is a concept plan - not sure if it's still in date - but it gives you an idea of the area and scale of the development. It is a combination of private (Remington) and Public (City) lands. You can see a faint property line that swoops through the site where the Victoria Bus barns currently sits.

The bridge over the tracks is about 3 stories up and is envisioned as a small public plaza.

That would be very cool. Possibly a starting point for an even larger project of parks above the rest of the rail lines in our CBD/Beltline.

I really can't wait until we see some solid movement on Railtown. Shovels in the ground will really help take the east Beltline to the next level.

Nope, I don't think they're quite to that stage yet.
