From now on progress should be a bit more noticeable.

It should look nice when they clean up the facades and put in new windows.

Just realized you used one of my photos. Thanks! Washington DC had some amazing streetscapes like 13th...reminds me a lot of European cities where 3-5 story buildings are just a constant. The density is remarkable.

Loving this Barrington project. It's really coming along!

The wall next to the next door building grew a little taller. That's pretty much it.

It`s embarrassing how slowly this is progressing

If the owner doing a private development wants to take his time, then there must be a reason for it... economic? Cash flow? Something. But its getting done, lets have a bit of patience.

I walk by every day too, and I've noticed 4 walls go up, a number of beams and trusses for the top floors as well, its still far from completed, we its also hard to see into the building to see all the work they have done inside.

It is difficult to tell how tall the cinder block wall is, but I guess this is basically the final height. The upper floors are not going to be very visible because of the setback.

At this point I'm mostly looking forward to seeing the restored heritage facades and seeing what sort of shops take up residence in the new storefronts. I'm also curious about how long it will be before work starts on the Roy Building. Ideally they'll move on to that one as soon as this one is completed.

I don't think people expect any dramatic progress at this point. I'm just happy it's a construction site rather than derelict buildings.

I'm not sure how they define 'near' but hey, maybe there's more done than it seems and the rest will go quickly? Although I've been thinking that for awhile, I can see how shoring up the existing structure would take a lot longer than adding new items like the roof and windows.

In an article in ANS a while ago the developer suggested that progress would soon speed up. What you say seems plausible -- you'd think it would be a lot trickier to shore up an old building than it would be to finish off new construction.

It would be amazing if the Roy Building project starts up quickly. I think part of the reason for the delay there is that some of the tenants will be moved across the street. It's good to hear that it will be mixed use instead of another pure office proposal. More residents along Barrington will have a much larger impact than more office workers (or no workers if the project sits in limbo for years waiting for tenants!).

If this project is finished and the Roy Building becomes a construction site the "optics" of Barrington street will immediately and dramatically improve. In the past a lot of people thought that the Sam properties and Roy Building were abandoned.

Some horizontal girders are going in on the roof now too. Nice to see some visible progress
