Apparently access to skytrain is part of the deal

That's a terribly small building for the site of a Skytrain station.

One would hope that the proposal gets revamped once the Broadway line is finalized.

The city is not serious about transit oriented development.

The entrance doesn't need to be big or grand. If I recall correctly from the design plans, ramps lead down to the floor below which would connect to a future skytrain line.

A few pictures from Vancouver that I grabbed. I posted them on the main board but I thought I'd also share them here.

An oldie from 2003. The hottest summer ever. The parks along english bay were so dry that the grass was flaking off. I must have chosen a lucky year when I moved there for 4 months (between semesters)!

I will love Vancouver forever because of that summer.

The reason why I am posting this is that maybe someone else has a shot from this location in 2012? So many changes! If you have seen one, can you quote it and repost?

Thanks from Calgary.

Yup, I do that too. I can't very well text my family a photo from my DSLR too easily...

What we could see from the cheap seats.

Taken by myself.

Here are some panorama views from some "upscale" Downtown apartments I saw back in March (thus the gray weather). More photos in here.

Thanks! The view was indeed superb even on a rainy day. I have also a photo towards south from that same apartment and you can find it behind the link.

That sub-penthouse apartment in Capitol Residences was very nice, but too bad they had wasted the ~1200sqf into a long corridor ending up having rather small rooms. Also the balcony was stamp-size.

We ended up with a much nicer apartment, from which I will surely post some panoramas one day.

Were it not for the Air Canada hangar hulking in the background, this view from Marpole over the North Arm could be from the 1870's:

I took a similar "looks like the middle of nowhere" shot recently

SFU is on the top of that hill, Barnet highway is hidden in the trees, and of course there are dozens of kilometres of suburbia in every direction just behind what is visible.

But from Cates Park you feel like you're in serene wilderness.
