Hmm location wise.. ..is king george better than Surrey central though? Like Surrey central has more bums right ? I remember my parent told me that they would pick me up at king George because it is more safe.. is this still true?

You see more underprivileged around Central City station because of the social housing complex off of Old Yale and University, the Surrey Strip of 135A being close by, and the panhandling opportunities the station presents as being a major hub. Just yesterday though I saw two skids steal groceries from Superstore on 104th near Guildford, and storm out with bags while being chased by security. So no location in Surrey is immune to social issues.

I'd say no location anywhere is immune to social issues.

When I go over there I get picked up at King George Station as it's way easier to get to by car than Surrey Central (with it's stop-and-go traffic and no designated pick-up area).

I wish they would just do 2am close for friday and saturday instead of the 1am everyday. Although with live music and dancing I guess its start to some sort of night life in Surrey.

the crane is down

I went out for a look on Sunday.

The crane is now down and will be taken apart this week.

Looks like 10 weeks to finish and open.

I worked inside today. No way is this going to be finished in 10 weeks. I'd say the main tower will be ready to open in late November or possibly December. So about 18-20 weeks.

Even at the fastest it's another 6 months before everything is 100% ready inside. 10 weeks are not nearly enough time.

Is there a reason why the work is being held back?

I have heard that there are no trades to be found in Vancouver.

I think he's talking about the hotel opening, not the condo tower (?)

It's not your average tower. The inside is packed with different trades.

That is likely playing a part. It is very difficult to get finishing trades right now as there is a shortage not only of trades workers but those that are available are charging an extreme amount causing developers to slow down and shop around a bit more.

Not only delaying things like this, but numerous under construction townhouse developments are also delayed months due to difficulties in finding finishing trades.

Is that a prediction or do you have sources?

I just took a Skytrain ride up to Lougheed for the first time in ages. It's amazing how much taller this tower is compared to all the rest in Central City.

It, very literally, towers over the competition.
