Great pictures.

What is that on the roof of the West Block of Parliament? It looks like one big sky light.

Thanks. Yep, they enclosed the former courtyard with some great steel-work and a bit of glass.

The sewage storage tunnel. So the overflows don't go into the river.

I seriously hope the city has a yearly paint/maintenance budget for this sign... I was just walking by yesterday and the sign already looks pretty "shitty"... lots of worn off paint and chips etc... (from people standing on it, weather, salt, etc). I like the sign and think it's a cool project but let's hope the city maintains it because it will look dilapidated in no time...

Photo of downtown Gatineau tweetd by Jean Boileau, Director of Communications for the City of Gatineau. I didn't know downtown Gatineau was looking so nice lately. Haven't been in a while. Also didn't know they had a Boston Pizza.

Insular Hull has huge potential, and I think the city and private property owners there are starting to realize it.

Ring Dam

The viewing area will probably be one of the noisiest places in Ottawa. Good view though.

I'm still not clear. Is it open for visitors?

Yes, the viewing area is open to the public, but access is only through Booth Street at the moment until they open the footbridges behind the War Museum. The falls are quite loud, but it's a soothing kind of noise. They have lounge chairs where I almost fell asleep on. I like the space, it provides a different perspective on the city. It almost feels a bit like Toronto's Queen's Quay or Montreal's Old Port, it will be interesting to see how lively it gets when residents move in nearby.

Currently the viewing area is open 9 AM - 9 PM daily according to the Energy Ottawa folks at Doors open. That limitation is apparently due to the amount of construction in the area.

That's funny. The damage doesn't look as bad from up here.

Hared to see Mud Lake's new pathway work from 5000' away.

New construction on Main Street and Rideau River

One can't see much from Main itself but the layout is quite extensive.
