Kevin, you should have reassured her that the cameras were for snapping photos of the skyline and not for grabbing a photo of her and her group.

I would have been tempted to laugh when she said that there will be no photos.

Yep, next time I'd like to see more forumers attend. Even with the cold it really was fun, and it turned out to be a perfect day for taking pictures.

First Round of Photos

Ok guys, let me do the honors of presenting the first round of photos from Saturday's meet. And no, I don't have any Sandra Bullock photos to accompany my efforts

Anyway, onward through the fog.... here we go in chronological order, starting at Austin's city hall on 2nd at Lavaca.

AMLI2 Up to Floor 11

360 Condos, completing the 5th floor

Everyone's favorite, the 5 story ABC bank 'tower' (most of which is parking)

Monarch pushing 4 floors already

Next came the Goodwill residential project site, at Lamar and W 3rd St. The old east-facing facade of the former Austin Goodwill HQ building is being preserved for the project

Inside the wall

Plumbing emerges

First frames of residential units evolve

View back to the east and downtown

FYI... The 41-story Spring site is visible, across Lamar between Office Max and RR Tracks:

Future residences

Barton Creek and Zilker Park

Long train running

Local film student working on project

Looking east, from 5th and Lamar. Monarch starting to rise, on the right

Whole lotta foods

AMLI2..from the north, on Guadalupe

AMLI2 from the east, on Congress

Future Benchmark Tower site?

Altavida

A hole emerges

2nd Street at Colorado

AMLI I and accompanying retail

AMLI 2 from AMLI I

Cesar Chavez

Altavida

The Shore tower crane emerges...looking east from the congress avenue/Ann Richards bridge

Hyatt...with Bridges on the Park crane popping up in the distance (from Congress Ave Bridge)

AMLI 2, from the bridge

From atop the Hyatt

Altavida hole

Colorado St (UT's RLM tower in the distance)

More Altavida

EDIT: The End.

Great pics, Mopacs. I think your camera has a little bit more of a wider zoom than mine does. I tried getting this shot - http://images20.fotki.com/v373/photo...SCN1460-vi.jpg - and couldn't get the cranes all in the frame and I know I took it from the same spot you did.

I'll get on tonight and post my pics, too.

Ok, guys, here's my contribution. I tend to go crazy and shoot everything like Annie Oakley...Enjoy.

I had a blast at the forum meet, guys, here's to hoping more show up next time.

360 Condominiums construction. 581 feet tall with 44 floors.

Rendering and sign of the building.

Hilarious, there's this billboard in downtown, well they're building a new lowrise no more than 20 feet or so away from it.

The Monarch construction. 314 feet with 29 floors.

More of The Monarch construction.

Downtown views to the east.

Bridges on the Park construction.

Uptown area of Downtown.

Whole Foods downtown store and world headquarters.

The famous Zilker Christmas Tree in the distance at Zilker Park.

This is where we met Sandra Bullock. Her restaurant in the sub-basement.

I didn't stay still enough for the next two shots, sorry for the blur.

Altavida construction. This tower will be 416 feet tall with 37 floors.

Great shots and great angles Kevin. Glad you got Sandra's restaurant too (I was too busy trying to absorb the moment following our chance encounter). This pic is cool too:

Great pics guys, thanks for taking up the slack. For some reason I was having too much fun discussing all he projects with you guys and only managed to take five pics during the trip. It is hard to imagine just how different everything will be by the next trip.

Looking through all the shots again; Mopacs, I forgot to give a shout out to your great photos. Fantastic.

The amount of construction in DT Austin is awesome, with much more in the pipeline. Austin is BACK in a big way.

Looks like a successful meet, guys! I was in DC this weekend so I couldn't attend, but I'd like an opportunity to take a tour with y'all at some point. Great pics too!

Great pics, hopefully I will be free for the next meet.

The Statesman is long overdue for a comprehensive report on downtown development, underconstruction, projects due to turn dirt and projects awaiting approval complete with stats and renderings...seems like a whole section could be devoted for it.
