Kaohsiung, July 1 (CNA) A well-noted waste disposal enterprise of Taiwan announced Wednesday that it had built the world's largest vertical garden in the southern city's Gangshan District.

The vertical garden, which forms part of the fence of Cleanaway Co. Ltd., measures 2,594 square meters, surpassing the former world record set by the green wall of Singapore's CDL Tree House by some 300 square meters.

Yang Ching-hsiang（楊慶祥）, board chairman of Cleanaway Co. Ltd., said that the construction of the green wall of his company took about two months, using more than 100,000 plants of different varieties to form a sunset portrait.

Yang said that he decided to establish the large green wall with an aim of promoting environmental protection, hoping to improve the general public's impression about the waste treatment enterprises.

The Cleanaway owns sophisticated technologies that can turn the pollutants into harmless resources, stressed Yang.

The Cleanaway is an enterprise specialized in treatment and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste, as well as in cleaning up contaminated sites.

The largest vertical garden measures 2,593.77 m² (27,919 ft²) and was achieved by Cleanaway Company Limited and Shine Green Energy Enterprise Co., Ltd. in Kaohsiung on 29 June 2015.

Cleanaway and Shine Green Energy both specialise in sustainable waste disposal and green energy. The vertical garden helps to camouflage a landfill site into the surrounding countryside.
