I really wish they'd adjust the angle of the cam to show the whole project, not just the top floor or at least have two cameras like we had with "The Link," the one looking down and another of the side profile.

Looks like they at least raised the webcam - hard to tell if the crane was raised too from this angle...

They are raising the crane today. Snapped a photo, I’ll try to upload it later.

Crazy the way they are raising the crane. They literally took the entire top apart to add 5 sections. I also overheard someone in the construction crew saying that the delay was caused by the wrong type of mobile crane brought to the site on Tuesday. Apparently it cost them around $50,000 from the wrong crane being ordered. Oops! That's a costly mistake. But it makes me wonder why they would want to spend so much money when they could have got a self-raising crane in the 1st place. Fifty thousand seems a lot more than a jumper to me. And a luffing crane would have solved the problem of securing it to the street it seems. But I'm not into construction, so maybe there were other factors?

50k is a drop in the bucket. Someone will get their wrists slapped and that's about it.

Was downtown today, they raised the crane but it looks like they will have to raise it again. This is suppose to be like 24 stories right? The crane is below the Westin Hotel building.

I noticed it too. Looks like crane is at about 240' or so. I think the FAA crane app was somewhere like 300'ish IIRC.

I think it was 21 stories it should be just a little shorter than Freeport Macmoran.

Original project announcement had it at 23 stories.

It's 23 floors. At that height, it will be just a smidgen taller than what the crane currently stand...about 250' to 260'ish. It's so hard to find exact height on these new developments since the developers are not disclosing total height.

On that note and off topic. I took lots of pics South of Dowtown yesterday from South Mountain and along Central Ave. There is no way that 2 Ren Square is the same height as Wells Fargo (both with published heights of 372'). Two Ren Square is clearly taller than WF by nearly 2 floors. Looked like a couple other buildings were off too on published heights. I think I am going to go on a mission to validate some building heights. I had to do with with my hometown years ago and found there were lots of height discrepancies.

Crane Collapse in New Orleans

Hey guys, not sure if you saw this, but this is interesting. I wonder how this crane collapsed?
Well, the headline I read from the Drudge Report said a crane collapsed.. Not sure if that's what really happened or not, just thought this was maybe relevant to the above topics about crane security...

I did a ton of research on this about 20 years ago. I'm actually the source for many of the heights in Phoenix at least up until 2002. There's a lot of documentation in the Arizona Room at Phoenix Central Library. The Wells Fargo Tower is 356' tall to the parapet. For some reason it got changed at one point to 371' and then rounded on this and other sites to 372' due to changes to meters and then back again.

I might add that some of the discrepancy in heights could be that planners use roof height, normal people look at parapet height, and spires are counted separately by the CTBUH as well.

Downtown needs a good spire fwiw. Or if I had a block downtown I'd build a good pyramid.

Kenect construction update. Up to the 15th floor. 8 more floors to go. The impact to the skyline is starting to become apparent. Great infill location.
