If it's a flame cauldron, the "shower jets" could just be brackets to attach the alumimnum skin to the structure.

That would be rather strange, and they would have to assume someone would do that at the convention center and nowhere else...

I took some camera phone shots of the Convention Centre precinct today.

The "look of the games" definately succeeds at looking bright and engaging even on grey wet winter days.

What's that thing in the middle of the scaffolding? It looks a little like a cauldron...

The guy they are sending does the NFL broadcasts, and said he knows absolutely nothing about Winter sports. Should be interesting.

But, protect Al Roker at all costs!!

NBC has posted their Vancouver 2010 broadcast schedule....it's disappointing. It appears that the Opening Ceremony will be broadcasted on tape delay, rather live even with the timezone advantage. Coverage begins with a 90-minute pre-show from 7.30-9 then the Opening Ceremony from 9-midnight...despite the Opening starting at 6 pm.

That was the complaint from Seattleites. They can't watch live Canadian broadcasts (becuase no one down there carries CTV) and have to watch NBC's tape delays geared towards the Eastern audiences.

Clarification:

NBC will be broadcasting the ceremonies live on the East Coast, but the West Coast will have to toughen it out and watch the recorded live broadcast later on.

why would they black it out? Its NBC from detroit... they never put the canadian feed overtop - or they don't usually do that

I don't understand. If the ceremonies start at 6pm our time, it's already 9pm on the East Coast. And then what time are they expecting people on our coast in the states to watch it?

that's so effing stupid. seriously, between Leno/Conan and the Olympics, is there anything that NBC can do competently?

so now I understand why people in PacNW are upset - they literally are 2 hours away from the live action but they have to WAIT for 3 HOURS?!?!?!?1

I mean, I understand what they did for Beijing...but srsly??!?!?@?!@?!

(okay, calming down)

CTV has video of the thing i was talking about. they also believe it to be a cauldron. looks like there is a main cauldron and another one poking out on the side? the video is titled "The Final Month of Preparation".
