Canadian filming locations showcased on new Netflix website

Lisa Green
CTV News Vancouver Journalist
Updated Sept. 28, 2021

VANCOUVER - Netflix has launched a website to showcase its filming locations across Canada and some of the productions mentioned are high profile.
British Columbia locations from Squamish to Surrey, featured in the hit show Virgin River, are among those included on the “Netflix in your Neighbourhood” site. The public ranking system on the streaming service lists it as one of its most popular shows.

I wonder if this Netflix in your neighborhood thing is a response to Bill C-10 and the CRCT

Stop ruining their grass roots marketing effort to promote all the hard work Netflix does in Canada.

Downtown Vancouver skyline of the future?

Made to look like Seattle?

Haha. I was laughing at that poorly made Seattle skyline as well. Vancouver just never gets to play itself...

The legend lives on.

First shot sets the location as Seattle.
The rest of the city shots are Vancouver.

That little village looks like Steveston or Delta? They said they weren't going back to Ladysmith for Sonic 2

EDIT: Seems to be Fort Langley

Sidney Poitier died yesterday, he filmed a movie here in Vancouver from 1988. It was set in BC. It was actually called Shoot to kill, but was also released as Deadly Pursuit

Sidney Poitier was a great actor who played a number of iconic roles in a number of iconic, culture-changing movies.

Although not on the same level of his seminal movies from the 60s, Shoot To Kill is a pretty good 80s Hollywood action/thriller. And Vancouver plays itself in the movie!

And I just realized after watching it that the movie forgoes the joke that Vancouver never plays itself in a movie.

I forget the name of it, but there is a recent huge Bollywood hit that takes place in Vancouver. What makes that unusual is that it is a Punjabi movie. Hindi is the majority language for big movies there.

One gripe, it's the Cassiar Tunnel not the Hastings Tunnel!

Ahh, damn! I guess that was always my own family’s nickname for it…

Your right.

Fact-checking your excellent video and I can concur. I tried to capture the main character Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) but no luck.
