That is interesting they are building that there only miles from CHOP's massive building up the road in KOP.

Avelo airline service launch announcement expected on Thursday

Quote:
The announcement of passenger service from Wilmington-New Castle Airport (ILG) by Avelo Airlines is expected on Thursday.

The airport, operated by the Delaware River and Bay Authority, put a teaser alert on its Facebook page on Tuesday.

News of the service came out last week, based on agreements between the start-up arline and the DRBA.

^ Great to see these densification efforts.
If only, all these projects weren't isolated amongst the mess of highways.

I won't go down the KoP Town Center rabbit hole again, but it's a shame that development can't naturally expand beyond its confines, because it's maturing into a nice setup.

Avelo Airlines Announces Air Service and a new base at Wilmington Airport (ILG)

It's official! Avelo Airlines will be flying out of Wilmington Airport starting next year to the following destinations:

* Orlando, FL (MCO) - 3x weekly - Mon/Fri/Sat (starting Feb 1, 2023)
* Tampa, FL (TPA) - 2x weekly - Thur/Sun (starting Feb 2, 2023)
* Fort Myers, FL (RSW) - 2x weekly - Fri/Mon (starting Feb 3, 2023)
* West Palm Beach, FL (PBI) - 2x weekly - Wed/Sat (starting Feb 4, 2023)
* Ft. Lauderdale/Miami, FL (FLL) - 2x weekly - Thur/Sun (starting Feb 2, 2023)

In addition to this, Avelo Airlines is making Wilmington Airport one of their bases. They will base one of their Boeing 737s here with the potential to base more aircraft here as they acquire more in the future. There is also potential for greater frequency and more routes depending on how successful they are.

We'll see how this goes. Hopefully their service is successful so their presence here can last.

Market Street - Downtown Wilmington

The fancy boutique hotel - The Quoin - is now open on Market Street with a rooftop bar and restaurant. Really looks like BPG and Method Co. Hospitality has done a great job restoring this old beauty of a building.

Really fantastic development! Everything about this development is great aside from that awful parking garage LOL. Would've preferred to see all or most of that parking underground and another office building standing in it's place but everything else about this project turned out fantastically.

Sounds like this could be a nice development! Would love to see this area of KOP become more built up, urban and walkable/pedestrian friendly.

116-acre Montgomery County site, once proposed for a casino, sells to NY firm for $23M

Quote:
A 116-acre parcel of land located across from the Philadelphia Premium Outlets in Limerick has been acquired for $23 million and could be developed into an industrial park.

Boyd sold the land in 2021 to Wyomissing-based Metropolitan Commercial Development for $23 million, according to Dan Kerr, township manager for Limerick. An undisclosed New York investment firm recently acquired the parcel from Metropolitan Commercial Development for the same price, said Eric Mattson, a broker with Lee & Associates who represented the seller in the sale.

The investment firm's proposals for the site call for over one million square feet of warehouse and distribution space, Mattson said. One proposal calls for three buildings, but Mattson said a number of different ways to split the land have been floated.

Didnt see this posted anywhere from the inq's avenue of the arts article, looks like south broad could be getting a potential facelift soon.
"The goal is to modernize some of the placemaking touches of the Rendell administration, such as the lamps with their decorative illuminated A’s, add trees, and eliminate street parking on parts of South Broad Street"

Somehow I missed this building going up in Conshy. I took this shot this morning. It definitely changes the feeling of the neighborhood.

Longwood Gardens breaks its annual attendance record, plans new Christmas displays

https://www.bizjournals.com/philadel...Pos=0#cxrecs_s

Longwood Gardens has set a new record for visitation, welcoming more than 1.6 million guests in fiscal year 2022.

Longwood Christmas will return this year beginning Nov. 18 with the theme "Botanical Splendor" and run through Jan. 8, 2023.

The Orchid House redevelopment is just a small part of the tourist destination’s capital expansion project "Longwood Reimagined: A New Garden Experience," which began in 2021 with the goal of preserving existing elements of the gardens and adding new features. The project includes construction of a 32,000-square-foot West Conservatory, a bonsai courtyard, a public restaurant and a private event space. Longwood is also relocating and reconstructing its Cascade Garden and re-enhancing its Waterlily Court and administrative building.

Redman said Longwood Reimagined is currently halfway to completion and on track to debut the new spaces in fall 2024 as it had originally planned.
