i noticed during the all star game they had night shots of the strip on TNT. and there was a huge dark spot in the middle. that must have been city center. I really got the scale of this whole project after that

These cranes were added in the past couple weeks for the Mandarin Oriental and the two Veer towers, still have to finish erecting that one.

Just a random crane shot

Think this will be the extreme west end of the Harmon podium.

As of right now, there are 11 tower cranes on this site, 5 on the main Pelli tower, 2 on the Mandarin, 2 on the Veer towers and 2 on the Vdara tower. Still more to come.

I count a total of 33 tower cranes in Vegas right now, maybe I missed a couple.

One press release stated there would be 38 cranes on site at once at the peak of construction. These however include cranes of all types, not just the stationary ones.

It is unbelievable that they are building all 7 towers at the same time.

I work in advertising, not construction, but I do keep a hard hat in my truck that I got at a Station Casinos groundbreaking ceremony. I know better than to sneak in where I'm not supposed to be though, some of that heavy equipment moves around pretty fast and without really knowing what's going on I would probably end up getting squashed somehow (not to mention risk getting busted for trespassing). It does take some reconnoitering to figure out good angles from the perimeter however.

My camera is a Pentax 35mm digital SLR and I have a couple different lenses up to 300mm, and Photoshop on the computer.
