I know I would need an awfully good job offer to consider living in Loudoun, Arlington or Fairfax County, VA (*median* income is well into the six-figures).

But maybe that doesn't concern Amazon.

How so? I don’t agree with the Koch Bros’ politics, but they’re very consistently libertarian. I suppose there is a pretty convenient benefit to them of cutting environmental regulations, but their activism involves libertarian causes unrelated to their business too.

Joking aside, Canadians prioritize education and health care over defense. Miraculously there's enough left over to also offer low taxes to spur industry. There's a price to pay for wanting a big military but that's what Americans seem to want.

Literally Jeff Bezos is just trolling everyone now. He's making them beg, then using his newspaper to make fun of anyone who begs. Rumors about Austin, Northern Virginia, Maryland, LA, and Boston are all named in this article so we can safely assume they will not be selected!

I think it has more to do with the fact that we have higher taxes on other things, like sales taxes.

No one pays anywhere close to the full tax rate in the US anyways. Good chance what the majority of companies pay in the US is already decidedly lower than what their Canadian counterparts pay.

Actually, the Congressional Budget Office (among others) have produced a list of 'Effective Corporate Tax Rates' (that is the as-paid rate) among G20 Countries.

Canada's is among the lowest, and still lower than the U.S. at under 10%
