Have to say, not a fan of the brick. You've got two clashing materials, brick and limestone, that in my opinion clash. I think when you're working over/with an existing building, you either need to do a damn good job of replicating the existing building's materials exactly OR going completely 180 with your materials.

Imagine one wall in your living room needing to be repainted. Either you paint it the same exact color as the other three walls or you intentionally go with a completely different color. A light beige and a dark beige would look stupid. Know what I mean? Assuming limestone is way too expensive, I think an all-glass curtain would have looked really nice and complimented the older building better.

Overall, this is a great project. Love the added density and the improved pedestrian experience on the ground floor (previously, that corner building was like a fortress).

Personally, I think whatever is directly on top of the limestone looks quite nice and complements the original buildings well (and better in person). I agree on the butcher-block type brick material that begins to the right of the original building. It's just meh. But overall it's a nice building.

Yes, probably. And for people who want something cheaper but like the location and want amenities, the old Latham up the street at 17th and Walnut is still being converted into micro-apartments.

By the same developer, so they have a nice range of options to offer.

This building would look much better if it had used some manner of white, glazed brick or porcelain (as depicted in the renders) like one of these google images:

https://www.google.com/search?q=whit...j3B9nYYOf4M%3A

Really like this one of the Maryland bank, in particular: http://cgmi.org/projects/maryland-national-bank/

The ubiquitous yellow color (also seen at the Rittenhouse Claridge, the townhouses going up off Walnut near the Wannamaker condos, and many schools) are not so attractive in my opinion... Oh well.

Has this building actually been being worked on? Doesn't seem like anything has changed in months.

Nice hat! I appreciate it when a building tries to meet the sky in an organized manner.
