I dont see why not, it was approaved and its a pretty cost effective design.

There may be minor changes to the interior and HVAC/Electrical designs, as it now seems to be marketed as AA or less office space but that should have a minimal effect on the overall design, especially from an asthetic standpoint.

I sure hope they do. And I hope they keep the proposed lighting design on the antennas during game nights, as well with its interaction with the viaducts.

Also, is that a LED screen beside the duct or a poster wrap? Most stadiums in the world tend to have a large screen in front of them, even BC Place has 2, I always wondered why GM Place does not (besides their small red and black marquee signs).

At 22 storeys, this building should really break up the Vancouver skyline.

I'm excited to see this go up. Really interested to see what they do with the space between Expo and the viaduct. And whether or not the rumored "Canucks Central" bar (see: Flames Central) will be here.

Flames Central is pretty nifty, has huge HD screens all over the place. It's the place "to be" for road games or PPV games.

It would make sense to have a Canucks restaurant / bar.

Unfortunately, that's from the Expo Blvd level, although the article does say they will apply for "a few" more storeys - but still within view cone restrictions. I recall that the spires were said to intrude into the view cone, so I wouldn't expect additional height even as tall as the spires.

Negrin said the building will have three over-height levels of retail space from Expo Boulevard to the height of the Georgia Viaduct, where the office building’s main lobby would be, then at least another 19 storeys of offices.

The company hopes to add a few storeys to the tower as it is developed. Negrin said adding some height to the building would still fit within the city’s height restrictions for view corridors.

Honestly???

Look at the rendering, look how thin the spires are. Also I remember hearing that they could be retractable for game days only.

Honestly, I agree with some view cone regulations, but when they are this strict and silly, I say f**k them.

Hehe, I put the people who would complain that such thin short spires would "intrude" on their view cone in the same category as those who insisted that the wind turbine on Grouse Mountain would ruin Vancouver's aesthetics

We all know how terrible the views have become since that was put in place, hehehehe (I barely ever notice it)

things sure got quiet on this one......anyone got anything? .......

“Right now we have two large, well-known companies that are interested in taking space,” Negrin said in an interview.

Negrin declined to name the firms, but with major tenants willing to lease a significant amount of space, “we’re ready to move.”

Sorry to sound so naïve, but were you being facetious or serious? I cannot tell. If serious, tell me how. I am genuinely curious. Thanks.

(Given the location, with few other tall buildings immediately around, it is hard to tell)

Nope, seeing as the only reason this thing didn't start was because no leasers were found

Rogers ruins another nice sporting venue... first the Skydome now GM Place.

Horrible company with very poor customer service as well... I will never refer to it as "Rogers Arena".
