Perhaps they're taking Casimir Pulaski Day off.

That broken drainage pipe runs under Fulton St. and empties into the River where the RiverWalk bends slightly to the North. The outlet can be seen below the RiverWalk on a line from the point of Wolf Point in the image of the plaza/tunnel just above the image of the broken drainage pipe.

Lots of pipes and tunnels below the ground on the west side of the River. Most tunnels are now sealed. Remember April 12, 1992?

The work on the drainage "pipe" continues. More extensive excavation work leading toward Canal St. than shown in harry's 2/28 picture. http://oxblue.com/open/clarkconstruc...iverpointplaza

No idea what the problem is - or even if a problem exists. Wolf Point progressing. RiverWalk build-out active. But, nothing much at River Point.

^ Well, there doesn't necessarily need to be a sense of urgency at the moment on Hines' part, given that their scheduled delivery is not for ~36 months.....they've got a good 6-9 mo. they can just f'around with should that be their inclination (or they could start in the next month or two and slow track it).

I wonder if Hines has selected their new gc yet for this project....

According to Alderman Reilly's site, they were doing utility work. When I walk by last week I did see utility people on site. Also, I walk by today and asked one of the workers at the site when the tower would start rising and he told me in May.

Start date

Considering Hines is in the market for a 75% construction loan, hasn't hired a contractor, and doesn't have a foundations subcontractor, highly unlikely they are starting in May.

They did all that without knowing who would build the tower or having the money to do so?

It's not as if they have been spending their own money building that park...

From today's Crains about the firm who switched: The Hines venture already has landed two law firms for its 54-story, 1.1-million square foot tower: McDermott Will & Emery LLP, which is leasing 240,000 square feet there, and DLA Piper LLP, which is leasing 175,000.
Hines expects to complete construction of a platform for the tower within 30 days and start construction of the high-rise in May, said Greg Van Schaack, a senior vice president at Hines. He aims to complete the project in November 2016. He declined to comment on the Victory Park deal.

The article also now mention River Point as being 54 floors and 1.1 mil sq ft. I wonder if this is a mistake or if Hines added a couple floors.

The possibility of extra floors has existed for this tower since they started construction. IIRC, they can build up to something like 705 ft without any sort of approvals needed.
