CHARLOTTE - LYNX Light Rail Expansion

Charlotte's Lynx light rail may cut back the expansion of the Blue Line so that the northern extension can be built. It was to end at I-485 with a park and ride but now may end at UNC-Charlotte instead. The economy has really hurt Lynx's expansion plans.

I hope this happens so it connects UNCC with the new campus/building in Uptown.

I don't see anything wrong with doing the line with two less stations for now. The importance thing is to hit the college campus. Then later on they can come back when they have another $90-100mil and extend the line to I-485.

Agreed. Unlike most special event stations like stadiums and airports, college campuses tend to provide a greater ridership number.

Infill stations can and have been built before. If things go well economically, Lynx will build them eventually.

I agree. I think the city will get this complete along with the 1.5 mile streetcar in the near future. UNCC is really pushing this too since they just built a new building in Uptown.
