Perhaps he meant the Hancock Tower - which has the same exposed X-bracing.

Personally I have always thought this building had the industrial look of Lloyd's of London, albeit much more "21st century corporate."

^I agree. Lloyds with tasteful restraint.

I'm thinking HSBC HQ in Hong Kong.

I see a tower crane base, square with an X in it just to the right of the big crawler crane. There should be a second one too, I am guessing it will be somewhere in that area over to the right that is not filled in yet.

Yeah, cranes are imminent on site.

I don't know about anyone else, but I love watching foundation work. The ways that buildings are affixed to natural stone fascinates me. I can't wait to see the major productions from Discovery Channel and that independent time lapse film. Can't wait.

On another note, it's extremely satisfying to FINALLY see some permanent supports for the No. 1 Subway. I think I'm going to enjoy watching the rest of the transportation hub construction the most.

Nice foundation. Not looking like a bunch of dirt anymore.

Sweet, now that some permanent support is being provided, I can be comfortable when taking the No. 1 subway downtown, lol.

Now I can't wait 'till the dirt of the Transportation Hub (in the East Bathtub) is covered with some fresh supports of steel.

Great shots. Lots of rebar down there, and the serious steel will be coming soon... I can feel it.

BTW, that strikes me as an unusually neat and well-organized site at the moment - all the materials stacked just so. The site manager must be a neat freak (and I mean that only in a good way).

Another thing - what exactly are they doing in the gap between WTC3 and WTC4 - is that part of WTC3, or just something to fill the space between the two buildings?

I was wondering, are people going to be able to lay down on the grass? Maybe have a picnic or just lay there reading a book? Thanks in advance.

Yes it's a memorial, and a park you know. Though I would find it a bit weird and creepy to be sitting on a site where around 2,500 people died on 9/11.

Well, I understand what you mean, but the same way other landmark memorials in Washington and elsewhere have become active public spaces, I don't think this area will only symbolize tragedy FOREVER. The memorial, along with the entire complex was designed to intertwine with the larger fabric of the Financial District, and I think us New Yorkers will always stop to relax and appreciate the open space, a rarity in Manhattan.

That's a Calatrava, isn't it? Beautiful. More then any other architect, I think that Calatrava creates things that look more like works of art then buildings.

Nice photo. Can someone familiar with the structural plans please explain why it's at an angle? After all, the building seems to be completely vertical.
