Funny thing is he isn't far off the plans... he's missing a few key components though.

side topic. has anyone tried the Steve Nash or Trevor Linden gyms? experiences and recommendations? I'm in New West, so perhaps closest to Linden club @ Highgate Village, although I work sort of near the Gilmore Nash club.

or are there better alternatives? thx.

Don't play with my emotions here, haha, i would love to see video / screen / ticker components like that on a re-done Sears! Would be so perfect for the heart of our commercial / entertainment district.

I think some kind of lighting, where the black gap near the top is, would be pretty sweet too.

if they didn't replace the stone with glass it would be cool to do what they did with the nordstrom in salt lake city - colour changing panels and its interactive - you can apparently change the colour via twitter

I use the Steve Nash gym in Morgan Crossing / South Surrey. It's nice, clean, not that popular so you get to use most of the machines. When I signed up a year ago they seemed to be desperate to get people to join so rates were very low.

As someone who has a long way to go before I even look like I go to the gym, I definitely feel comfortable there, its a good mix of people not only bodybuilders.

Ryerson's School of Image Arts Building just reopened and it has something similar - but with better patterns. Scroll to the bottom of this UT post:

An interesting article in regards to why more large-scale retailers having trouble opening in Canada. Judging by the figures provided a few posts back it seems Vancouver will have the most problems with this issue judging by our pathetic power centre square footage per capita numbers posted a few posts back.

Canada lacks room for new U.S. box stores
ATSUKO KITAYAMA, REUTERS

“Finding space is really difficult, but even if they can find it, it’s expensive,” said Maureen Atkinson, senior partner at J.C. Williams Group, a Toronto-based retail consulting firm.

Nordstrom Inc, a high-end department store chain with locations throughout the states, is on record as saying it wants to move north.
“We’ve been looking at Canada for over a year now,” Erik Nordstrom, president of the Seattle-based company that bears his family’s name, said in February. “The challenge ... is the real estate. It’s a tough real estate market.”

As a result, demand for space in the existing centers - especially premium locations such as the Yorkdale Mall and Eaton Center in Toronto, and Pacific Center in Vancouver - has skyrocketed, Crombie said.

“A lot of locations are running out of space,” he said. “They can’t accommodate newcomers.”
“So there is an absolute frenzy as retailers try to get into these malls,” Crombie said.
The high cost of retail space presents a conundrum of sorts. Only the biggest chains, such as Target, can contemplate the expense, but at the same time, the size of such chains makes it difficult for them to find enough suitable locations.

“The larger the space, there are not that many opportunities,” warns Crombie. “The premium malls can’t accommodate them.”

Outside Bellingham?! I like your sense of distance. LOL.

It's at Tulalip, just north of Marysville. Same exit as the Seattle Premium Outlets.

Looks like they're probably referring to the Tulalip location, opening April 19th.

Cabela's is opening an "outpost" outside Bellingham, in a suburb of Yakima, later this year. Sorry. I had to.

could be - would be weird for competing casinos to promote each other

anyway - bellingham on saturday was insane, the lineups inside, Ross, Target and Abercrombie & fitch were really long, was busy like christmas - and everything is so cheap i haven't shopped down there since 2009 i forgot just how cheap it was

There's a McCafe going in TV Towers at the corner of Robson and Cambie.
