IM SO SORRY. i didnt look at the new rendering. however that site was bought by Related Midwest and acquired the project in July 2011. The rendering that was shown was 2010 which is a year ago. Many things can change in one year.

no, the rendering was only posted by spyguy last month. i retroactively added it to my first post in this thread as an easy place for folks to find it.

We'll never know the answer to that, I would assume it originated with DeStephano or whatever firm designed it (I forget), but the ways of the Spyguy are mysterious and fickle. I don't want to know where he is getting the scoop on anything either lest he be uncovered and our source of early renderings be cut off.

Wow I haven't been here in months.

That design is awesome.

It would become a Chicago classic.

Regular people would appreciate it and give it a nickname.

Like the "diamond building"

I hope spyguy has designated a successor in case one day the el falls off the tracks while he's walking under Wabash & Lake or something like that. We would all just be goldfish in a tank with no more food after that...

if this is the final design id be really dissapointed. if they didn't have that garden in the middle it would be absolutely amazing.

If you have a legitimate question or a useful comment you'd like to add to the discussion then please do so. . . otherwise you're just filling this thread with useless banter. . . as a new forumer you might be wise to read the threads in their entirety before posting questions as well. . . you will likely find what you're looking for with minimal effort so there's no need to keep asking the same things over and over again. . .

Thank you. . .

The base for the Citibank building is actually an engineering masterpiece. Many folks said that the pedestal concept could'nt be done.

Pretty impressive considering what could have been, looks a lot similar to Daniel Libeskind's Sky Garden Tower proposal for NY.

Does anybody actually know for sure whether the renderings posted here represent the final actual design Related Midwest is going with? Because I would be surprised if this is the design that's actually built. Looks much more like an early concept from either the new architecture firm that got the job, or one that was pitching for it....
