I saw him twice on that last tour, once in Dallas and once in Austin.
I have never forgotten when I saw him in Austin, he talked to the audience a little bit about "living on borrowed time" and talking about his mortality. That probably wouldn't have stuck around in my memory except for the fact that several months later he died. So I always remembered.
Because of this thread, I went back and searched for the date of the Austin show... and found a full unedited video on youtube of the show. I heard again, for the first time in 27 years, the words that I had remembered. They begin at 30:00 in the video below:

Plus it's an awesome performance, too. I had forgotten how good it was. Riviera Paradise to open the show was incredible.
